Downloading attachments from gmail

I am trying to download an attachment from my gmail account but it is only opening up the document. What do I need to do to get this document onto my HTC Hero?

Long press the attachment, it will give you the option to save it.

There isn't a spot to long press...there is just the file name and a preview button....it doesn nothing when you long press that section.

Are you using the gmail app or accessing gmail through your browser.

I don't think you can save through the app, but you can through your browser.

That was the problem...for some reason you can't save files from the app. Using the internet gmail worked just fine...thank you very much!!
