Downside to purchasing through Wirefly?

Well, the phone comes out Friday, so would you have to wait till Monday at the latest to get it? Or would overnight get it to you on Saturday?

Very true, although I wonder if they're smart enough to do that (or if their Point-of-sale system has the capability).

Who cares if THEY'RE smart enough. You better believe I'm gonna point it out as soon as they're ringing me up. It's only $4.00+change, but still $4 extra I shouldn't have to pay.

I guess I've misunderstood the sales representative then. I thought I pre-ordered, gave a $50 deposit towards the purchase of the phone, and they give me a gift-card towards the accessories of the phone.

Oh well, I was expecting to pay $199 anyways. So I don't mind really, but I really thought I would be paying $149 more come June 4. LOL

Checking my receipt, it says:

Package 1xx8****************************
9xxxxx5 PRESELL SPR 50.00
PRESELL SPRINT HTC EVO 4G
PACKAGE GFIT CARD VA 50.00
ITEM TAX 4.13
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx PACKAGE SV 0.00
ISSUE APPROVAL xxxxxx
50.00 balance
REG. $0.01 0.01 DISC
------
SUBTOTAL 50.00
SALES TAX AMOUNT 4.13
=====
TOTAL 54.13

Not sure that that meant... LOL
The giftcard is justy to be sure you will spend 50.00 with BB even if you change you mind. The deposit+Giftcard of 50.00 +149.00+199.00

So my girlfriend and I both will be getting the HTC evo. the whole wirefly thing sparked our interest.
Background: we both are on different plans neither being a primary number, we are both premier customers, and we plan to subscribe to TEP.
As far as bing goes do I have to do 2 separate purchases with overnight shipping to get $50 dollars off each phone? This is the main thing boggling my mind. Or does she have to create a bing account for herself. Anyone with experience using bing your help would be greatly appreciated.

I was wondering if there is anything I have not considered about ordering through wirefly. I know they charge us in NYS a sales tax, I wonder if a distribution center here?

That would be NYS reaching its claws into all interstate online businesses (without Federal authority). That's why Amazon, Wirefly and most sites charge NYS tax now even without a NY presence. Newegg gave NYS the finger, and I'm proud of them for doing so, now if only Newegg sold the EVO..

No idea about the sales tax in NY, I would email Wirefly to ask about that.

The Bing Cashback, you both need to set up Bing Cashback accounts, which consists of having a hotmail email address, then go to the Bing Shopping on MSN homepage and set it up from there.

Quick and painless. Then you can designate how you want to receive your money back and as long as you make sure to search for "wirefly" through Bing shopping search, you will see the Bing Cashback icon at the top of Wirefly's website and you should be good to go.

Ive used Wirefly 2 years ago to get Eternity when it came out on ATT.
We had no issues, and Cust support was simple. I had to wait an extra week because the Eternity was back ordered, but a few days wait offset the price difference. I contacted Wirefly last week asking about being able to get Corp discount or if it was against the 6 month agreement. I got reply next morning saying it was allowed. So again, Cust Service was just fine for me.
I plan on getting a EVO and 2 other new phones with Family plans June 4th, as I leave ATT. I wont even think twice about not using Wirelfly. I know this time to order my phone right after midnight so i get it before being OOS.

does the $50 bing cashback apply to out of contract purchases? there's no sales tax in California either right?

any updates on whether or not we can port our numbers at a date of our choice, instead of immediately after receiving the phone in the mail?

Here is the email response I received about number porting

If we process the order with a new number, the same number needs to be active on your account for atleast 181 days from the date of activation. If the number is changed directly with the carrier you will be charged an equipment discount provision of $300.

You may certainly get back to us within the first 30 days trial period to port your existing number. If we do it for you no charges will incure.

Basically, call wirefly first, and within the first 30 days.

Under a week til release and still nothing on the site. You guys are really waiting to the last minute to price this thing. If you're going to beat BB/RS, wouldn't you want to get the price/pre-orders out early? (to beat the rush of BB/RS pre-orders)

Will there be a extra charge if we put another line on the family plan we initially placed on wirefly?
I'm not sure I fully understand the question, but if you order a family plan through Wirefly, there are no restrictions or extra charges about adding additional lines.

PS you can get a great deal when you add a line through Wirefly. :)

I'm told there are some tight restrictions around preorders for the EVO, and so for now we have decided to pass and wait until 6/4/10 at 12:01am. I am also told that for now we do not anticipate any supply issues.

If I purchased one EVO from your site at launch, can I purchase another one later as the 2nd line of a 2-line family plan? Will there be any issues with converting a single plan to a family plan?

Im on the west coast and was hoping they would have something up the 24hrs before launch. I wanted to have my order started putting together a few minutes before 9pm our time. Takes little time to use Bing, add 3 phones (1 not listed), and a family plan.
I know the soonest i will get the phone is Monday after shipping, I just want to make sure i they aren't all gone. One thing in life that's certain, is never anticipate something you don't have control of. I can only hope some rich businessman dont order 50,000 of them for his company through wirefly :P Stranger things have happened.

Does Wirefly absolutely require a 2-year plan extension? I recently extended my plan with Sprint, but I still have the $150 upgrade eligibility, would this work for me or not?

Good question. There should be no issues converting from a single line to a family plan if you do it via Wirefly. Just go to the EVO page on Wirefly.com and click "Add More Lines to My Account." There is an option to convert an individual line to a family plan.

If i open a 2 year contract with 3 Evo's on the 4th, will it be able to process in time and have the phones on my door on the 5th?

Fortunately for you, if somebody tried to order that many phones with a credit card, it would likely be trapped and rejected by our fraud screens. We have a limit of 5 phones per order, and a good allocation of phones, so please take the time to make sure everything is correct about your order. Remember if you are porting phone numbers you'll need your current carrier account numbers. If you are upgrading, you'll need your Sprint PIN.
