Root Draining O_o

I'm using MikG 3.0 + Antrax 004 with SetCPU set to InteractiveX. When I'm not using the phone battery life is awesome, but when I do use the phone I notice that the battery percentage will decrease by 1% rather quickly O_O. Am I the only one experiencing this? I can get over 15 hours of moderate use but when I do use the phone heavily I'll get about 8 hours or so. That's with and without using WIFI as my source of data on the phone. Also background data is on but nothing syncs in the background :/.

I think battery life is too subjective to give solid advice on. Obviously there are things you can do to improve battery life, but what works for some may not work for others. I've noticed that no matter what rom or kernel I flash, my battery life sucks because I don't want to do all those things that save your battery life. So for me that answer was a bigger battery.

Sounds to me like you have dialed your phone down as low as you can, maybe try one of the freedom kernels, or just reflash the rom and use the baked in kernel.

Give lithids aggressive freedom a try.

It wont have your music enhancements, but I got better battery life with it over anthrax. I'll sacrifice some battery life for awesome performance

On this rom I've tried all of the Freedom kernels. Didn't really do much except lag most of the time. The more undervolted the kernel the more lag I experienced. :( I guess I'll stick with Anthrax. I'm at 41% from a little over 11 hours off the charger with moderately heavy use, especially the last 2 hours. I had a long ass rehearsal for a production tomorrow at my university for the Chancellor for the holiday.

Im using the same set up you are, only diff is Im using tasker, I have my autosync turned off, and have set tasker to sync everything I want to check, mail etc. once every 90 minutes, it works well, and i've had my CPU overclocked to 1113600 for several days now using interactivex as my govnah, and Im getting around 10-11 hours of pretty heavy use.

Is your battery draining about 1% a minute?

What is your PRL #?

I have an idea, but I'll wait until there aren't any other options.

Since I've posted this thread it's been doing fine. It drains like 1% every 10 minutes or so of constant use (screen on and I'm texting people back to back or reading Twitter).

Thats not bad, I would let it go for now.

I was just checking if you were having the infamous PRL battery drain.

Doesn't seem to be an issue that often anymore with the newer PRL's though. :)

Just out of curiosity, why do you leave it as a last resort Granite? I've seen you make that recommendation a few times and I've changed my own as well and it seems like a very straightforward process.

What's the current PRL supposed to be? Usually when I flash a ROM I update via the HTC update thing to the latest PRL

I flashed Aggressive Freedom kernel about an hour ago. SetCPU on smart ass, min at 245 max on 960. Working pretty good so far. Gonna give it a week to see if I like it (with background data on push notifying Twitter and Gmail/Contacts)

Hey, New Guy here. I just got into rooting and flashed the Mikg 3.0 ROM and Anthrax v9 kernel. My battery is killing me. Less that 2hrs off the charger im down in the 70% range. Off 4-5 hours, Im down to 25%. Just simple texting and a couple of calls. No email, twitter or facebook. I DL'd SetCPU, but have no idea how to congire it. Any suggestions would be great.

How recent was it since you flashed the new kernel? You have to let the kernel settle on the phone for a few days to really judge battery consumption.

Been about 3 days since I flashed the kernel. How long does it usually take for it to settle in?

Oh, well then your phone might not like the kernel if it's been that long with significant battery drain. Try another kernel. The most recommended Sense kernel is Freedom (there are 4 versions: Stock (regular voltage), Less (a little undervolted), More (more undervolted), and Aggressive (the most undervolted). Anthrax was good for me for a while but I noticed more battery drain than I wanted so I flashed Aggressive. http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all-things-root/284413-roms-kernels-download-page.html

Akazabam recommended to flash both the PRI and the NV when changing, It's not required though. ;)

You're right it is a straightforward process, but I don't like to recommend it lightly because its a radio flash. Pulling the battery or having an error while doing this can be detrimental to the phone. :(

I'll take chances with my phone all day, but it unnerves me when I advise someone else to do so with their phone. I'd be crushed if someone bricked their phone because I told them to change their PRI and NV. :(

The chances of something happening to the phone while doing a PRI downgrade are very low, so I don't want to scare anyone. ;)
