Root Dreaming to root

I was flirting with the idea of rooting my good ol' Droid X and from what I see I am doomed rather to buy another phone than rooting this one. Seems that after I updated the System to the version 4.5.621 there is nothing that I can do in term of rooting my device.
I dont want to buy another phone (even I'm eligible at Verizon since last year) but I have no choice now. Am I write or wrong ?

the only thing that threw me for a loop, was the commands under 6.A you have to put the word "sudo" without quotes before the final command.. but I am fully rooted. You can only flash 2nd init roms, MIUI, and ICS roms. You will have to learn linux like I did unless you already are familiar with it. The commands I am talking about are for when you are flashing to the 604 rom through Linux. I actually had the sbf files downloaded first, and when I boot into the live Ubunto cd, I then transfer them to the "Downloads" folder.. Another tip.. rename the flash files to something smaller so when you go to type the commands, you don't have to type for ever and chance typing something wrong..took me a little trial and error but I did it..
 
I'm not familiar with Linux but heck.....I can learn anything. Ur post mention terms not very familiar to me but I'll try my best.

I encountered the same issues.. lol foreign territory.. but somewhat familiar now.. if you get stuck, helps not far.. theres a lot of smart helpful folks on this site so don't be scared to take the plunge. Feel free to ask questions, even if they sound silly to you.. lol
