Don't know where to put this comment/question. I found that my phone would not connect to my pc. I got the windows/8 USB drivers and installed as directed. Still no connection. Used to be that when I plugged the USB in it automatically went to a droid picture and ask if I wanted the connection or not. Nothing. Can't see my phone in windows either so I'm assuming that the USB isn't working. I'm running Android 2.2.1 but don't know which screen because I can run ADB either without the connection. Any help would be appreciated.

Try a different cable from phone to pc.

If that doesn't solve the problem (usually does), then try these:
Connect phone to computer. Go to settings/applications/development- (make sure USB debugging box is checked) Turn USB debugging off, then on (as fast as you can).
Computer on/phone off. Connect phone to computer, then turn it on.
Computer off/phone on and connected to computer. Turn computer on.
Connect phone to computer. Go to settings/applications/development- (make sure USB debugging box is checked) Turn USB debugging off, then on (as fast as you can).
Computer on/phone off. Connect phone to computer, then turn it on.
Computer off/phone on and connected to computer. Turn computer on.
