Hi

I plugged my phone into my computer to download some pictures. The phone installed the software from the SD card onto the computer but could not find the driver. I checked on HTC's website but cant find an option for HTC HD can anyone tell me what I need to do?

thanks

Gadgie

If you install HTC Sync on your PC, your PC will get the driver.
But you don't have to use HTC Sync ;)

Hi

Cheers for the info. i have downloaded HTC sync and rebooted the pc but when I plug my phone in via USB it is not picking it up, any ideas what might be wrong?

cheers

Maybe that will help:
The phone setting (Connect to PC) set to .. Connect as drive.

I had the same issue, the phone was not recognising that it was connected to the PC.
When plugging it in it didn't ask me how I wanted to connect and passthrough option were grayed out.
I tried every thing, every setting, nothing, in the end I did a factory reset which didn't fix the issue.
But after a couple of days after the factory reset it started to work again and hasn't (touch wood) happened since.

Hi

I have tried that and have tried all the options in (connect to PC) and all I can do is charge my phone. Any more ideas thanks?

A look at your USB cable:
Do you use the original HTC cable (that with the HTC charger) ?
If not, maybe the USB cable is an only charge cable (without data wires).

EDIT: Note, an only charge cable is the cable with the HTC car charger (C 200)

Hi

Yes I use the cable that came with the phone but still cant get it to work. I am using windows 7 dont know if this could be causing problems or not. Anyone else got any ideas to sort this out, dont really want to try the factory reset.

cheers

With some PCs, there is a difference between the USB on the front and the back of the PC.
Same problem with very long USB cables.
It should not be used an external USB hub.
