Root droid 1 on another network

Is it possible to get the droid to work on another network and if so would changing roms or even loading a nandroid backup kill the flash that got it to work on the other network or is that info stored like the base band is and never changes unless you do want it to?

I know this is a shot in the dark but there is almost always someone on here that knows so I thought I would try. Thanks

I have heard of people getting the phone to work on Verizon resellers like cricket, but not the 3G radio.
