Help Droid 3 Issue or Settings Issue?

I made the jump from a bberry to android and i like it for the most part but there is one issue that is bugging me. i've googled my problem and it seems that a lot of people have this issue but there isnt a solution.

Whenever my phone goes into "lock" or "Standby" mode, it doesnt get new emails from the default email app. i have it set as push but for some reason it wont get the new emails or give me a notification until i refresh manually. now if i play with my phone and receive an email before it goes into this "sleep" mode, i get my email pushed to me like it should.

I'm almost certain that it's a setting issue of some sort but im not sure which setting it is. Background data is enabled... and email settings are set to PUSH.

i did look through my gmail settings on the phone and it has all of the folders to sync manually. i dont think this is the problem since i still receive emails and the notifications via push without changing these folder settings.

can anyone help me? it's really annoying.

if you goto the battery and data management in setting this could be it. If after 8pm by default if you sleep nothing will get pushed past the first 15minutes, you can turn this off.

during the day i have it to sync without any restrictions... at night from 12-9am i have it to sync every 15 mins but during the day there shouldnt be any syncing delays...

Are you using WiFi or 3G? If WiFi, there is a "WiFi Sleep Policy" setting in the "Advanced" screen of the WiFi settings (use the menu button to access) that by default will automatically switch the phone from WiFi to 3G data when in sleep mode. This may cause problems with "push" e-mail since the IP address changes. You can change that setting to "Never".
