I have a Droid 3 (5.6.890.XT862.Verizon.en.US) and I had rooted the phone to "Freeze" some of the "bloatware". I am giving the phone to someone else and wanted to "unroot" the phone.
I performed the steps in the "Ultimate Droid 3 Root/ROM" sticky thread to unroot my phone. I "defrosted" all of the apps that I had frozen with "Titanium Backup". I had not installed any custom ROMS or removed any apps. When I ran "Pete's Motorola Root Tools" and selected "Unroot My Phone", I got the following error:
SEARCHING FOR THE PHONE (connect it now if you haven't yet)... found!
Running unroot step 1 of 4 (setting up symlink)... done!
Rebooting your phone... done!
Running unroot step 2 of 4 (modifying local.prop)... done!
Rebooting your phone... done!
Running unroot step 3 of 4 (unfreezing apps)... FAIL!
ERROR: adb could not be granted root access
Try again from the start, but if the problem continues, check your version
of Gingerbread -- hopefully you don't have a version where this exploit
was fixed.
Now if I try and run SuperUser, it shows "Droid 3 Bootstrapper" and "Titanium Backup" having superuser access, but I can't view the log or anything and the app gets a "...not responding" and I have to force close. Titanim backup pro" runs fine and is granted root access.
What am I doing wrong and how do I complete the "unroot" and get rid of Superuser, Busybox, etc.
