Droid as the best bed device ever?

I think a lot of us are switching to the Galaxy Nexus since it's 2 year after Droid came out. I love my OG Droid and don't want to see it go. So I'm going to make it a kick ass bed phone.

I plan to use my car dock and suction it next to my bed. Suggestions for best ROM to use to keep it fast? Suggestions for best apps?
