Droid Bionic RAM + 4G coverage

Yeah but it is worth waiting for 4G in my area before I shell out $ for it. I don't think 512 is enough, 2ghz can't take advantage of 512, but 1gb, that's a smart phone. I'm waiting until the next phone that has:
1GB RAM
4G in my area LTE
2GHZ (total 1GHz x 1GHz)

Right now I'm missing the 4G and 1GB RAM part.

I know 4G LTE is faster but isnt anyone worried on how 4G will drain the battery, I havent heard anything on battery improvements. I know most ppl nowadays buy extra battery they should at least make a bigger battery to be up to par

i like this phone more now since i saw the hands on video. I think 512 is plenty as well. However i think i will wait till the second round of 4g devices to come out. Not to mention i really don't think 4g coverage will be wide spread (especially where i live) for at least another year anyways. Even then i don't think it will hit it's prime for another two years probably. By that i mean not only the laptop dongles but widespread cell coverage and the ability to take full advantage of it such as using video calling across it.

Just to point something out. Just like computers a dual Core 1ghz processor does not mean 2ghz speeds. You're still limited to 1ghz but with the ability to run 2 different processes. It's like running 2x 1ghz desktops not 1x 2ghz desktop. Dual core does not give you more speed but gives you better ability to run multiple processes compared to that on a single core.

Despite the lack of 4g coverage in my area and the mediocre 512 mb of ram I still will be looking forward to the Bionic.

LTE runs on a 700mhz spectrum which is more power efficient than a high-frequency like WiMax or HSPA+.

I dont even care about 4G being faster. I want the better reception its supposed to have.

I read a hands on I think Engadget did with the Thunderbolt. They were playing around with 4G inside of a hotel. They said the speeds were nice, 4G had nice building penetration.

Depending on if that building had bad 3G phone reception to begin I like what I read.

The RAM is supposed to be stock at 512MB. I think there was a lot of confusion bc early press releases shows 1GB, but honestly 512 is sufficient..it's the same as the Droid X and the processor will make up for it.

As for battery life dual core means less voltage required on any ONE processor, which should help with battery life...also the battery is higher than the Droid X to compensate. I doubt they'd make an Evo mistake and release a phone with worse battery life as their flagship LTE device from Moto...

As for coverage, most places are going to have LTE soon enough, full country coverage within 2 years.

^Yea, I dont think anyone has had issues with 512. After I got the X, I finally understood what Inc owners meant that went from the Droid 1 to the Inc.

You know how it is, we all the best, latest available.

Someone on another site complaining about it not having 1GB mentioned their Droid 1 and they feel like they need another 64MB-128MB of Ram for their Droid 1 now.

I never mentioned the Droid 1 has 256MB, and what he wanted woulda still been less than the 512MB thats in the X and Bionic.

I will more than likely be purchasing this phone upon release, blur be damned I love the specs..

Does it even have Blur? I know its motorola, but if you look at the motorola pages for the Atrix and Bionic, the Atrix has the launcher that I've associated with Blur, the Bionic does not appear to have that on the site or hand on video. Maybe the software isnt finished yet.
As for the memory, I think 512mb is enough. Sucks for bragging rights that the Atrix is getting more, but with what they're trying to do with that phone they may need more RAM on that phone.

512 is enough? Bragging rights for 1GB?

The bionic NEEDS 1GB... I'm not getting it for this reason. Why have a beast processor with not enough RAM to handle it?

everyone seems to be forgetting that it is 512 MB of DDR2 RAM. This is at least twice as fast as the standard SDRam used in every other currently manufactured (or announced) device.

Still, 1GB on atrix makes me unbelieveably angry. Why should they get 1GB, while we get 512MB? I am extremely angry at motorola for this. I will most likely wait till the [(Bionic 2)]

even the atrix is still using standard DDR RAM. while the bionic technically has less available RAM, i am willing to bet that it will outperform the atrix because of it's DDR2 format.

i am still rocking the OG Droid and was due an update in november, but wanted to wait for LTE, so i am hoping the bionic will be the one. i am kind of disappointed that it was the only Tegra2 device announced for VZW at CES though. while the jury is still out on the LG Revolution, the HTC Thunderbolt is confirmed to still be using a single core.

Yes, it has Blur according to some of the vzw testers.

Atrix needs 1GB because of the nettop functionality which is pretty sweet, but otherwise 512 would have been fine w/o it.

The HTC needs 768mb because of Sense and the higher requirement for RAM.

Remember, the phones all need what they are required to need -- not what we want for "specs".

Now, the Tegra 2 will be a great gaming platform, but otherwise the dual-core on the phone prob isn't necessary.

If this is true, then I will get the Bionic. I had the orig droid till I bought a DX for $400 off ebay. My Orig droid was purchased in December on a New every 2 contract... so I believe I can upgrade 20 months from then. Of course, I CAN upgrade early... but is it worth it if 4G isn't in my area? I think I'll wait till it is, by then hopefully Dual Core 1.2 x 2 = 2.4 + 1GB DDR2 RAM (I think I live in the future lol)

The Atrix is the reason I won't touch this. Verizon has until November (should be plenty of time...) to make me forget about the Atrix or I'm switching to a different carrier.
