Help Droid Charge force closes every app

I assumed that those that had this issue were either rooted or had changed ROMs. But this is happening to people that hadn't even done those things? That's news to me.

That hasn't happened to either my phone or the one that belongs to my brother. I hope that this doesn't happen to mine.

Any speculation as to why this is happening? I heard something about some Verizon app being thrown about but I was able to uninstall any and all updates to that app and refused to update that app.

I got the charge when they offered it to me as an replacement for the Facinate. have only had it about two weeks....if that. wasnt rooted or changed ROM. I wasnt able to uninstall My verizon app, now it wants to auto update, I dont see the check box for auto update on the market to stop that. And am stuck with JUST A PHONE!! GRRR....Wow just a phone...lol.
Been reading up on flashing back to stock. Just frustrating cause i dont know what caused it.

OK, this is your last hope to try and solve your issues. You're going to have to download a file from my web site...

http://www.toms-world.org/samsung_droid_charge_ED2_firmware.zip

That is a ZIP file containing a ROM that can be flashed to the phone using emergency recovery mode.

1. Download the ROM from the link provided above
2. Rename the file to update.zip and move it to the root of your SD card
3. Restart your phone and at the Samsung logo screen press and hold VOLUME UP + HOME + POWER until you see the Recovery mode screen
4. Use the volume rockers to select SD Card update.zip and press the home button
5. Wait for roughly 5-10 minutes while the update is performed.
6. Phone should auto-reboot and take about 1-2 minutes to complete booting to your homescreen

I don't take responsibility of you bricking your phone. If this works, that's great.

I don't take credit for these instructions, you can find the original instructions over on EE4 hotfix update being pushed out - Droid Forum - Verizon Droid & the Motorola Droid Forum. I just downloaded the file and placed it on my server which is more reliable than the place mentioned in the thread I linked to.

Which apps were/are you having problems trying to remove? 3rd party ie Go Launcher, GO SMS, pandora, etc

Are you rooted or stock?
Stock

Verizon said that they are sending replacement....dont know if i should bother with that or try to fix.

Does this work for a stock or just rooted?

Thanks Kelmar. Thats what I was thinkin. Guess I'll just to use it as a regular phone...LOL

Lol! Yeah, it should work fine... But so should deleting apps, factory resets, etc.... IMO, if they are replacing it, let it be their problem. :)

pheew, i was alittle worried there. The tech said that if i went to a store that they would have me call tech support anyway. So are we the only ones having this issue?? It all started when i got an update notice for a My verizon data widget. from then on phone just wont play nice.

I'm having the same issues, they also started with the data widget update. I've reset the phone twice. Once in the Verizon store and once with the help of Samsung support. I'm taking it back to the store today for a replacement, they said I could do an instore replacement if Samsung didn't help, Samsung also offered to have me send it in so they could fix it..I'd rather not wait. Im really curious if this has something to do with the Verizon widget tho. I have friends with Charges and there's are working "fine" but they never received the notification for the upgrade. The first sign of a problem my phone had was that it was sending the notification for the widget over and over. since then I've gotten the notifications several times a day sometime 3-5an hour. The force closing started shortly after the first notification and has increased since then. It seems to be random apps. and sometimes restarting the phone will let me use the apps again for awhile.

I really wish there were a simple way to just set it back to the original factory settings but that's not really working for us..so..I guess..I'll have to replace it and start the bonding process all over again..Im just glad I didn't get around to replacing my screen cover last week
