Help droid charge grinding noise

I think its feedback noise. When I hold it, there is less noise. when i set it down, it gets louder. it is a verizon phone. I got it about a month ago. I have a protection plan. I hope I can exchange it.

i googled and i saw 1 post with griding noise when pluigged in. I'm not plugged in. its just sitting on my desk. i put it on paper and on carpet same thing. when i hold it there is less noise.

also, when was in my car driving today. i did not see 3g or 4g. I saw 1x at the top. what does that mean?

this is strange. the sound seems to happen when i have my droid near my work phone. I have a standard plug in work phone on my desk. it is not affected by my laptop.

is this a known issue?
