Droid charging while in automobile dock

When you snap the Droid into the automobile dock does this charge the Droid (assuming the automobile dock is blugged into the cigarette lighter outlet)?

The auto dock is just a holder with a magnet. I use my car charger and plug it in to the phone while in the dock.

It is recommended that you plug in your droid while in car adapter. The screen will stay on. If it is not plugged in it will either dim or go out depending on your settings.
