Droid Eris Video Player???

Has anyone found a video player apps for the Eris that will play saved videos from the SD card in MP4 or avi formats?

Video player is already built in. Just go into Albums and play the video. I play MP4 video off my SD card.

Thanks. I was trying to find it before adding any videos. Now that I've added a video I can see the playing feature.

I have used mVideo player in the past with good results, you could give that a try.

theres an app on the market that i recommend called "video player"
its got pretty mixed reviews, but i got no problem with it its worked flawlessly since day one.

Which codec and what framerate are you encoding the video at? Are you trying to play videos with a resolution higher than the native resolution? I'm encoding videos with h.264 at 23.976 fps and AAC audio and they run great. The are all within the native resolution (480x320) and encoded at around 500 kbps. The videos look great and run well with built in player (and even plays well zoomed), mVideoPlayer, and Act 1. For some reason the Eris had issues when playing videos I encoded for my PSP and the only difference was that they were in encoded at 30 fps.

It the movie Office Space (Great movie). I converted it a lower encoding which is 704x384 and 28.8 frames per second. The audio is 48,000 Hz @ mp4a. I'm assuming that the encoding settings I used is what's causing the lag.

Do a Google search for video to iPhone converter. It is a nice little program and the videos play very well on the stock player.

I'm not clear on why you would encode at 704x384. There is no advantage to this res on the Eris. Even if it is playable it will probably look worse than one at native res because the Eris has to scale it. Go 480x... I would not talk about specific movies..

you need a good converter. The best I found is made by Xilisoft.
I have tried about ten different one and this is the only one that the video is good and the sound does not lag. I travel a lot and this phone has replaced my laptop during flights
