Hey guys I am fixing a droid eris for a buddy, or trying to at least. The phone gets stuck on the startup screen with the 3 android dudes and stays there. I've booted into recovery and tried a factory reset/cache reset. That goes through fine. I also downloaded what I think is the OTA 2.1 update for the phone and renamed it to update.zip. i found it via a google search where a site had some nice directions. it fails and says installation aborted. So basically, all i can make the phone do is show the 3 androids and that's it. Do you guys know of any other update.zips i can try for this guy? Any ideas? I know very little about droid eris'.

I had a hard time reflashing my phone. I had the official 2.1 update but could not find the ROM on my SD card to reset it. I got a red triangle when I tried the VOL down and power on.
I called Verizon who patched me through to HTC support. They guy had me do a HTC reset.
Hold Vol down and push both silver buttons at the same time..the phone button and power. It was a different bootup..it did it's thing and it worked.
