Droid Eris's Screen Scrolling Issue

My Droid Eris has been scrolling all the way to the left home screen without being touched. Also, in windows where I am entering text ( Gmail, Handcent, browser); it will move the cursor around on it own. At first I thought it might be Swype, but it still does it even after uninstallation.

I've spend A LOT of time with VZW support and HTC too. Nothing seems to fix it. VZW has agreed to exchange out my phone, but I am still curious if anyone else knows about this issue?

There've been several threads on this issue. The general consensus seems to be that it's a defective trackball, and that a phone swap is the only fix. So you're on the right track.

+1 happened to both mine and a friends. but i was ok with it, because my replacement was 1.5 and i got to root
