Droid Extended Battery Released.

Seidio's Droid page for batteries now shows a Innocell Slim Extended Battery "Under Development", so maybe a more attractive mAh offering that will fit in the existing case is on its way

That DOES compute. ;)

Glad to see that they are going to come out with a slim extended battery like I had on my BB Pearl from them. Now it's just a waiting game until it arrives.

Im interested n extended battery since oem battery life is garbage, but for $65 that more than a 1/3 of the price i paid for the phone!

Higher capacity. mAh is a quantification of capacity. We would say "the battery has a higher capacity", not "the battery has more mAh".... just like you'd say "that car is faster", and not say "that car has more MPH".

Just a pet peeve when talking about things like that, and the units of measurement.

Be careful, even with seidio. I had a BBC storm and the stock battery was horrible. I bought an extended seidio battery and my pregnant phone lasted forever. It was a great investment.

However I know people who bought the slimmed extended battery and although it was rated to last longer than the stock storm battery it didn't last as long. I even saw a YouTube video on it where a Guy compared the two batteries playing video until each died and the stock one lasted several hours longer.

Also almost all eBay batteries suck.
Do the research from those who take one for the team.

They should have returned their batteries for new ones...Seidio might have had a bad run of batteries from their manuf.

Luckily my experience was the opposite...my Seidio extended capacity slim battery was a great addition to my Pearl.

That extended battery has the juice but man that door is fugly. Someone called it a pregnant Droid and that is damn sure what it is!

I'm waiting for the extended slim too. It won't be too many mAh above the stock, but at least I'll have 2 batteries. I'll take that over the extra bulk and fugly factor that a single super battery offers.

Ok i just got the seidio extended battery for the droid (2600mah). It lasted 18 hours and 34 minutes before it died. I am on my 3rd full charge of the phone. Then the next 5-6 charges you should notice a difference in performance. Below is a timeline for all of you that want to know how long the extended battery lasts. I used it on my day off...pretty heavy usage. This is right before it died, i looked at the battery usage and this is what it read.

Display - 6 hours
Android - 1 hour
wifi - 11h
standby - 1 day 8 hour
voice - 12 minutes
idle - 11 h
media server - 26 minutes cpu
android OS - 20 minutes cpu
Browser - 13 minutes cpu
android core apps - 10 minutes core apps

Those were not that specific. I used You Tube about 3 hours, listened to music for about 2 hours, I also transfered about 1 gig of files to my computer that took about 20 minutes.

Conclusion - My battery took about 6 hours to get to 20%. Another 6 to get to 5%.Then when it got down to 5% it lasted 5 hours of heavy usage (youtube, listening to mp3, downloading music) I am hoping since i drained the battery completely it will reset a counter in the phone so that phone itself can give me a more accurate battery reading.

Honestly I don't really see the point of the extended battery.. when are you really going to be away from a car/computer/ac outlet long enough for it to really matter?

I use my phone heavily all day long and it has never died on me by the time I went to bed. I leave it on the charger while I sleep.. and plug it into the car while I'm out driving (which is a good bit as I deliver pizza). I've not once had it get to a point where I couldn't use it before I was back at a spot I could use to charge it.

For reference I use a lot of navigation (don't need it.. just fun to see how accurate it is), stream pandora .. use phonemypc a lot when i'm away form home.. and a good bit of internet browsing.. maybe a game of scrambled net every now n then. I really don't get a lot of phone calls though, so maybe that is the difference. But even then.. I'm usually in my car or at home when I do talk on it.. so there's a charger nearby anyway.

I agree with you, but I also know that I start to get nervous when the thing hits %50. I think it's just a security blanket thing.

I know on the ultra rare-occasion that when I forget to take my phone with me somewhere that I feel naked, if the battery crapped out on me while I was out and about would feel the same way. But your right, I work all day at the computer, can plug it in any time, have a care charger, and a charger right next to my bed. I'm never far from power.

@Shadow I had a lot of friends try to explain this to me while I was trying to alleviate my fears the past 2 months at taking the smartphone plunge to the Droid. (Which I did btw last Saturday! :)

My only experiences with smartphones were a Treo I had a few years back and a Blackberry Curve and now Bold 9700. Blackberrys last like 3-5 days depending on use which was amazing. My LG Voyager at best would last 2 days before needing a charge. Droid will get me maybe about a day and a half with constant texting etc.

I've made it a point to have a charger at home, one at work (easy bc Micro USB now charges a majority of Bluetooth headsets and is used for newer Western Digital external hard drives as well) and a USB to Micro USB for the car. (I got one of those Griffin cigarette lighters that has 2 USB ports so I can charge my TomTom and phone at the same time, and better yet I'm not locked down to using Motorola's proprietary car AC plug).

If you're going to be on a lengthy trip I'd recommend one of those Duracell rechargeables to juice up your one once or twice more. Google them they're pretty awesome.

I bought extra Motorola OEM batteries. Have only had to resort to a swap once but it's reassuring that you have another fully charged battery in the pocket should you get careless and miss a charging session. ;-)

I held off on this when I bought on Saturday. They were selling extra batteries plus a wall charger unit so you didn't have to charge in the phone. Seemed awesome but the swapping out I'm sure would get annoying. I've got no problem just having a mobile charging solution myself.

Buying an extra USB to MicroUSB data cable was a lifesaver though

Ya, it has been there for awhile. I think CobaltDragon got himself confused in relation to that, because what he linked was the standard sized battery in slim format. What you guys want if you don't want a more bulky battery is the Slim Extended Battery that, as xanthias has pointed out, is still in development.

Innocell Slim Extended Life Battery

In regards to price, buy a cheap cover, buy a cheap set of ear plugs, buy a cheap screen protector, but for the love of god don't skimp out on the battery. You really want to put a questionably made battery into your phone??? From EBAY?! Cosmetic items don't really harm the phone, just change the appearance. That battery goes inside your phone! Seidio is known by blackberry users to be an extremely high quality product maker.

That is just my advice, take it or leave it. As others have said in this thread: You get what you pay for.

I hope they come out with it soon and at a nice cheap price.:D

It will likely cost around $40. That is what they normally charge for the slim extended for other phones. I will pick it up since I don't want the bulk or ugly factor of the exended and also am usually not far from a charge when needed.

i am tired here waiting for sedio slim extended battery..

wow.. an actual battery rated lower than stock and yet claimed by others to get "20 to 30 % better than standard battery.." - I find this uber hard to believe. report back

I have been using the one of eBay that is slightly bigger, like 1600... it sucks

That Sedio battery is HUGE. Isn't the Droid already big and heavy enough? I'm just fine with charging mine every day.

My momax battery review here

after train the battery for about 10 days..

i think this momax battery performance 30% more than my standard battery.

i am using always 2G network for whole work day..

using wifi couple minutes..use gps foursquare about 5 minutes ...and always direct push activesync all day..

and i am also using IM native with yahoo messenger connected for whole day too.

you happen to claim 30%, the number you said others said, so how did you come to 30%.

Not sure how what you screenshot proves anything?
