I was around some during THE thread. Not sure if i posted in it though... well i'm sure i didnt since i signed up 5/11 and i'm guessing it was closed down when the inc debuted 4/29.... i know i lurked some during that time... i remember the mess that was the battery/accessories threads that kept getting merged, lol. I hated that at first... couldn't follow none of it.
Wish i could find my first couple posts, just for the hell of it, user cp only shows the last 500 posts, that only takes me 2 weeks back, lol

There is a setting to change that though right?
Under user cp > options > default thread age cut off > show all threads
edit:
nvm I tried that and can still only go back to September. I think you can only see as far back as 500 posts.

That was a fun time with some good people. You were there when I signed up. I started reading that thread and read every post until I caught up... such a fun read! You and a few others made the thread so damn fun I just had to start posting. It made the wait a lot easier. I waited 39 days for my Dinc lol. I've not been sorry yet!
I, too, made regular member status in that thread. I was darn proud to become part of the elite lol. You never know.. some of the others from back then might return.. I did. I was mia for at least three months. I checked in once in a while to read but never participated. I didn't seriously log back in until I experienced some problems and I KNEW where I could find quality help. Face it.. the Forum ROCKS!

I wonder if there is a setting in the forum software to mark a thread read only? There should be some way to avoid the reincarnation of a thread that died a gracefull death five months ago.

You know what I mean... Every day or two there is a new post to a thread that ended in June or something. It looks like something new when you scan through the recent posts. You open it up and the first post was in May and there are like 8 replies. The next to the last post was June 2 and the last post was today at noon. I mean... sheesh.. seriously.
The one that caught my attention was a post today in the general incredible forum with the header of HALP! me or something. The last post has nothing to do with the old thread. It was a noob that made the post but.. when you are new you make all kinds of mistakes. I still make em lol. My point is.. if the dead tread was read only.. it wouldn't have happened.
It's not a biggie.. I was just wondering if any of the "long timers" in here knew if there was a way to avoid old treads being revived when a new message would be the better avenue.

LOL, That's one of my pet peeves also. I usually post in the thread where someone asks a question like it's a new posting "Do you see the date of the last post? Nobody is going to pay attention to your question, start a new thread" Or something like that.

I just let it go unanswered but.. I want to say something. I blunder so often it would be like the pot calling the kettle black lol.. There are some good old threads with genuine help so purging is not the answer. I don't know. Should be some way to fix the problem. Maybe I just need another beer.

I think they went pretty good. My off days went by pretty quick though. This is my Monday at work, 2am right now, only little over 5 hours left, lol
Good grief. I hope you work in a few hours of snooz now and then. I was just about off to bed myself. I'm putting up some new tile in my step mom's shower tomorrow. Half the battle is trying to get the old tile off without ruining the sheet rock. Not my forte but will be something to do.

It's not too bad tonight, been raining for hours though. Supposed to snow hell down tomorrow though
It's 20 here right now and with the wind chill it feels like 1 degree lol.. that's like clear the hell out of degrees. No precipitation though. It would be ugly if it was horizontal snowing.
