Yeah its been a weird growing season and there is not much that you can do about it... I am trying to plan a small greenhouse type build on my new. Box that I am making and maybe. That will produce more for me so and I am going to try and transplant a few pepper plans and see if they will produce some peppers in the winter months

You will have to let me know how it turns out. Though we have plenty of sun in the winter months here in Kansas... it's far too cold to grow diddly. Way kewl if your peppers produce. Let me know.

Yeah I will I can only hope if not then there is no real big loss and I'll use it in the summer and grow some super peppers...
But on the other hand the hot sauce I an making from the peppers I got is coming along nice super hot and still fermenting on the window seal going to cook and filter it here with in the next week

I always make salsa with my peppers. I have one last batch of peppers to make one last salsa for this year. :( I always hate to see it end. I cleaned out my garden today. Took me about three hours to pull all the plants and compost what I could and trash the rest. I'd love to till in some farm compost to set across the winter but I don't know if I'll find the time. It makes such a difference to fall till... especially with some compost.

I made some salsa out of early batches of peppers but I didn't last to long and was to hot for the rest of the family...so I am making habenarro cali slim hot sauce that will last me all winter :)

Hey Babyblues, do you have AADD? ;) That's Avatar Attention Deficit Disorder for those that were wondering. You've been going through a lot of them lately. :)

I do! Lol. I think I like the new one though. She can change her panties. :p

(and part of it is that I can play in photoshop....aka procrastinate working)

Step away from the thread for a couple of days and WoW. It's painfully obvious that blkbelt and myself live sheltered lives when all we talk about is growing peppers. We've never discussed panties or tweaking anyone.... never.

Lol. I would have jumped into your convo but I am a plant killer. I do love homemade salsa though.

My last batch of salsa for the season was by far my best. I think it was because of the colder weather.. the late season peppers weren't as hot as the early ones. In any event: 25 jalape

Yeah it sounds amazing but is that the mild version man?

It was the mild version being as the late peppers were pretty mild. Basically the same mixture earlier would light me up. I was tossing in a few habaneros then too. I liked the heat but I'm not that big of a fan of the habanero flavor in my salsa. I like them best to just eat one with a beer... burn and brew.. can't beat it. I'm going to try some pequin peppers next year instead of habaneros. They are just about as hot and I hope they taste better in my salsa.

humm i have herd of them and i love the habanero heat but you are right they do gave a VERY strong pepper flavor and it is hard to mask with out losing the heat

I tried everything without success. I don't mind the flavor.. but I want to taste the other peppers and onions and such. Habaneros have such a dominant taste... that's all I taste. I've never tasted a pequin so I don't know. I wanted to try them this year but couldn't find any starts. I'll look harder next year. I have a bunch of habaneros drying lol. I have this crazy idea of grinding them up and using them in a shaker like cayenne peppers. I didn't grow any cayenne this year and I'm down to my last pound of ground peppers from the year before. I don't know how the habaneros will turn out but I gave away tons of them... ate more than I wanted.. and still had a tub of them left. They have been drying for a few weeks now. We shall see.

I won't tell you that my four habanero plants were still full of peppers when I pulled them up and put the hidy-ho to them. I didn't want the peppers.. I had a full bucket of them in the house already. Late summer those plants looked like very over decorated Christmas trees with all the dang peppers. Them and the serranos went crazy in September.

Dam you had a good season I just lost all my Basil plants last night to the first frost I was super sad pulling then from the ground cuz I didn't harvest any of it yesterday before the freeze
