Help DROID Incredible random restart/reboot problem

No reboots today, but I haven't gone far. If I get through tomorrow without any problems I will be ready to say that it is fixed.

Haven't had a reboot all weekend long. I haven't got this OTA update but the reboots stopped. Perhaps it was a network issue on their end and not a software issue on the handset.

I live on the border between Mississippi and Alabama and I get random reboots when at home, but when I am at work, I don't get issues at all. I have the 8gb card from my storm in it, so I don't think that's a problem.

I do live in a "fringe" coverage area so my phone is constantly looking for service. The tower switching problem sounds valid, but I have heard of reboot while using wifi only, so it may be a software problem. It seems all we can do is wait.

I'm thinking the fixed the SPL compatibility problem with the towers. I did not have 1 reboot on Sunday at my home in Mebane nor on my drive to work in Greensboro. Which I'm very happy about.

Well one more day without any reboots. I am ready to call this problem solved. Thank you to everyone for you input. It was much easier to deal with knowing that I was not the only one having the problem. See you in the other threads.

Not in NC but mine has rebooted like 3-4 times in the past 2 days. Two of which were while i was texting and once in the browser also looked like once maybe last nite. Im hoping its a software issue cause i love my phone and i didn't
notice reboots the first 3 days i had it.

Just something to note... I found I was getting reboots when I was running msn droid. it would dissconnect I would reconnect and the whne I would go back to the home screen it would reboot.

I shutdown msn droid and havent seen the issue since... uuummm...

Mine rebooted last night at about 4 am. The reason that I know that it rebooted, is that I have GPS on, and after the phone reboots, I get the Google Location Warning for GPS.

This is the second time it has rebooted in the wee hours of the morning...I wonder is Verizon is pushing out stealth PRL's ?

Just an update... I spoke with VZW tech. the other day and filed a ticket. I received a call from them acknowledging a problem with their towers in the triad area and that my ticket was now closed. He also stated that the problem was figured out and fixed. I have not had any other reboots... and I hope I don't.

I just had my first re-boot. Located in Minnesota. I was just searching in the market and the phone froze up for about 5 seconds then rebooted. Arg.

Edit: Not using Wi-Fi.

so I was fine for the last 6 days, but this morning I had two reboots. both occurred after I exited HTC flash player. I also got the exchange ota this morning. hopefully the update didn't screw up something else.

Just experienced my first random reboot, I have never had an issue with my phone until now. I received the update earlier this morning, could this have caused an issue? Has there been a solution to this problem if it persist without taking it back in and exchanging it?

How many times have you seen the reboot?

I also received the update this morning and about 10 minutes after the update was done I also had a random reboot. It has been fine for the last hour or so though, so I'm thinking this to be a one time occurrence. Let me know what experiences you have.

Thanks for the quick reply, I probably got the update two hours ago, and just 5 minutes ago I was typing on my laptop at work and I heard my phone go off. I looked down and it was in the process of booting up. I hope this really was just a one time thing. I will keep you informed, let me know how yours does as well.

Will do, like I said, when I read your post I wasn't entirely surprised as it happened to me. I'm still going strong over here though, I'll let you know if I see anything else.

Hopefully we can get some other users to post similar experience.

I also received the update this morning and about 1 hour after the update was done I also had a reboot. This is effecting too many people to be a "bad batch" or defect. It is clearly either 1) A hardware Design Flaw 2) A software bug. I'm hoping for #2 which can be fixed with an update.

I understand that it happened to you an hour after the update, but have you had another random reboot since then? I have a feeling this may be by design, and not a defect nor bug.

Had my first random reboot the other day. Was making an outbound call to an in-hospital phone system with was bordering out of range if that maybe had something to do with it.

No, it's been over 8 hours and it hasn't rebooted. Prior to the update, I had about 2 random reboots over the last week (since I received it).
