Droid is now 2.1

There's really no rule that states that Verizon must wait until they have rolled out 2.1 for Droid to begin rolling out for Eris. They can start rolling to the Eris tomorrow and no law has been broken...maybe the pride of a handful of people but that's about it. So it's anybody's guess right?

New Engadget update

Oh, bollocks! After hearing for days that Verizon Wireless would be pushing out the highly anticipated Android 2.1 update to its stable of Droid users, along comes this. Internal company documentation clearly states that the aforementioned update won't be going down today, and there's no clear indication of when it will. To quote:


  • "The OTA software update for the Droid by Motorola is TBD. A new date will be communicated as soon as possible.
  • The 3/18 OTA software update will not happen as planned. A new date will be communicated as soon as possible."
We knew things were just too quiet after the noon hour, and now we know why. An impromptu support group meeting has been scheduled for 1:30PM ET, though we're hearing the location is still being decided...

Man i was reading the begining of this and i was getting happy beacuse today was thursday and now thursday has came and still NOTHING.....i might need to get the leaked version soon:confused::confused:
 
My wifes droid has started force closing everything. I'm thinking she will be getting the update soon. I'll let ya know when she gets it.
 
If it was because of a bug on VZW's end, I'm pretty sure it was hardware related. So I doubt the Eris would get it OTA as well, before the Droid, because it may fail like the Droid's did.
