You're asking this on a android forum and honestly think you're gonna get a non bias answer? Yeah why don't you go ask this on a iphone forum and see if you get the exact opposite answers people are giving you here. You really need to ask this question on a non bias forum where people will not be bias.
My honest answer is they both have their strength and weakness. There is no doubt the iphone 3GS is faster then the Droid, but it doesn't multi-task so is it really faster if it could multi-task?
The network is a hit or miss, some people love AT&T and claim it's the best, others claim Verizon is the best. For me in Milwaukee, meh I think we got crappy coverage here. They all sound the same to me[decent] and the bars aren't really that high[1-4 bars]. I'm talking about Sprint, AT&T, and Verizon. Of course I had the most drop calls with AT&T and least with Sprint, go figure.
GPS is hands down Droid because it's free and it's just as good as those so call paid GPS. Well for me anyways. Iphone only has Google maps or those expensive paid GPS.
Internet is the same as voice coverage, good in some area, bad in others. On a technical term AT&T's 3G is faster then Verizon's but Verizon's coverage area is MUCH MUCH bigger.
Music and camera is all iphone. The Droid can't touch the iphone on this. syncing with itunes is so much easier and with movies, and music. Anyone tells you otherwise is bias towards the Droid. The camera on the iphone is way better then the Droid, but the Droid is pretty decent for a phone camera. Video recording is pretty much the same imo.
Texting I would say about the same but the Droid does have one huge advantage, google voice. You can use it to text others for free with it. You can also use it for calls to save your minutes. You can only do this on a jail broken iphone.
