First, a little backstory. Last Sunday was my birthday, and I was originally going to get a PS Vita. However, after realizing I wouldn't have enough money to buy games for it, I decided instead to get a smartphone. With only 24 hours left until my bday, I didn't have time to do much research. Anyway, that was my little backstory so you understand this a bit better.
So I ordered the Droid Razr from my local Verizon Wireless Premium Retailer. After putting the Razr and iPhone 4S head to head, I decided the Razr was the phone for me. But while I was researching, I didn't see all the complaints about the battery (I watched mostly mainstream reviews, which didn't gripe about it), or the fact that the Razr Maxx was coming out in less than a week.
I picked up the 16gb Razr for 200, which is the highest price phone I can get. However, I am worried about battery consumption/life, and whether or not it will get me through my day on a single full charge. So I think if I just tell you what I will probably be doing with my phone, maybe you guys can advise me:
1) HEAVY Texting - probably a few hundred text messages a day
2) Moderate Web Surfing and Email browswing - via WiFi
Smart Brightness Settings - Low when I am inside, only high when outside, which won't be often
3) There is no 4G in Burlington, so no 4G connection, however there is 4G in Albany, which I go to every other weekend and spend school breaks/summer, so we will say moderate/low 4G use, and when I have that option, no 3G use
4) Little 3G use, only when I want to check email when on the go, and maybe some web surfing via 3G when I'm bored in an area with no WiFi... but still, we'll say Moderate 3G use to be safe
5) Probably not much video watching, maybe a youtube vid here and there, but never more than 1 hr per day, and always on WiFi
6) Minimal/Moderate calling, less than 2 hrs calling per day
7) When not in use, phone will be asleep in my pocket with 3G/4G disabled and with sync options set to probably like 30 mins
8) On device music use, and maybe some Pandora via 3G when driving, but mostly on device music use, no internet/3G
So with all that, will the original Droid Razr be a phone I can work with? I will never play games on it, I use my 3DS for that, and like I said, all in all, an entire day of school, I will probably use my phone for video for less than an hour. Texting is the only thing I will be doing damn near constantly, and that is what worries me. Keep in mind, I CANNOT upgrade to the Razr Maxx, as much as I would like to. No, if this phone won't work, it's going to be the iPhone 4S for me. I just never know what people mean by "heavy" use, and I don't know if what I plan to do with it qualifies.
Also, I almost never have days where I have to go 9-10 hours without being home and being able to charge, or driving and using a car charger. I have classes sporadically, and I can charge in between them, but I am looking at worst case scenario. If I needed the phone to live through an entire 9-7 day or so, would it make it with my amount of use? I really hope this phone will work out for me... and sorry for the HUGE amount of text
