Help Droid RAZR M restarts itself

Hey! My wife's phone is acting funny. About once a day it restarts itself while she is using it. It happens while she is using fb or chrome or pretty much any other app. She has had the phone less than a year. I guess it is still covered under warranty, but I don't really want to go through the warranty process and end up getting a refurbished phone. Is there anything I should try to diagnose the problem? Should I try a factory reset?

The phone is on JB 4.1.2 if that makes any difference...

I assume it is un-root-ed.

Did you/she do a Factory Data Reset after upgrading to Jelly Bean? It is recommended. Without doing it it can appear to be correct for days, weeks, or months and then some inexplicable problem starts up.

If you did a Factory Data Reset in the past you could try running in Safe Mode (disabling all apps you added without uninstalling the) and if the problem stops you will know it is caused by an app you added.

Thanks for your reply Thom! You are correct - it's not rooted. I did not do a factory reset after upgrading to JB. I will try that and see if it clears it up.
