Root Droid running hot...not sure why

KaveMahn

Newbie
I just installed CyanogenMod 5.0.8 with a p3Droid lv 1200 kernel. My phone is running a lot hotter than is used to on Kangerade 1.0 with a ChevyNo1 ulv 1200 kernel. Before my phone never went above 115 - 117 degrees at most. It now gets all the way to 127 - 130 degrees. My failsafe in SetCPU is set a 110 degrees. Is the reason because the kernel is only lv and not ulv? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Every phone can respond differently to ROMs/Kernels...particularly kernels. You can try reducing the clock speed, but may need to try another kernel.

I suggest the jdlfg kernels -ran great/cool on my phone w/CM ROMs...

Look on Cyanogen forum in the stable Mod section, there's a jdlfg thread there w/his 2.1 and 2.1 kernels.

Can't remember - they might be in ROM Manager as well...

You kind of answered your own question in the OP.
Chevy versus P3
Two different kernel devs may have different heat, just like better or worse benches at the same speed.
