Droid support animated wallpaper?

Does anyone know if the droid supports animated wallpaper? I think it would be pretty sweet looking if the red"eye" that flashes during the phone boot was the wallpaper. Anyone know if this can be done?

Not through the pre installed apps. Although a home replacement app might do it like Panda Home. However I don't know enough about them to give you a definitive answer.

Well I had thought of that, but wouldn't the .gif have to be resized just as a wallpaper would?

if so, not sure how to do it to a .gif.

I don't think it would work cause you can even get gif to work in the first place. Why would it now work as a wallpaper.

Have you tried grabbing an animated gif and setting it?

Tried this. Animated in my PC galllery to be sure and sent to SD. Opened in Droid gallery and set as wallpaper. Only shows the first image of the animation series.
Haven't tried resize yet. Had to do this for Omnia to use animated GIF so it may work.

This has got to be possible at some point, the new Google Nexus One has this capability and looks to be the same OS version. Altho modified for a roller ball.

Anyone have any update?

The NexusOne is running Android 2.1, the Motorola Droid is running Android 2.0.1. The Droid is not going to get the 2.1 update until next year sometime (probably late January) and will probably get animated wallpapers then.

The Nexus One is running 2.1 not 2.0.1 like our Droid's, also it has a few apk's that make the animated wallpapers work. I have tried installing them but I get a parse error every time.

I believe I read that animated wallpapers will be part of 2.1...can't remember where I saw this though...perhaps someone can confirm?
