Anyone successfully get droid VNC server working on the Optimus V?

The app runs and looks as if it is working. It shows the IP address of the phone. But when I try to connect to it from PC with Tight VNC it just times out.

Is your phone rooted?
Have you tried Team Viewer?
The app in question, droid VNC server, requires root as a prerequisite, and Team Viewer is not a VNC server but just a VNC client on Android devices.

I tried running this app on my OV but no success either. This app also messed up and conflicts with my SSH clients. FYI.

It runs on my phone and reports the phone's IP plus port number, but doesn't seem to function (as a server). The app is running, but nobody is home? :-)

I wonder if there is some firewall on the phone which is blocking network communication?

I encountered the same symptoms--unable to connect.

I don't think it's any firewall within the phone itself as I've Avast which has its own firewall, and I specifically enabled access for the server app but still no luck. I believe Sprint/VM may be blocking traffic on VNC ports (59xx) as I'd similar problems when setting up my SSH VNC, SFTP and tunnel connections on the OV. I tried the server app with a random port in my brief test but it still did not work. However, I did not tried using port 443--used for https traffic which Sprint could not block--as that's what I'd to use in order to get my SSH connections to work. I've already uninstall the server app as it broke and conflicted with my SSH connections so you might give that a try--using port 443 instead of 5900. I would be interested in how you make out as I could use this app on my Mom's Nexus 7 whenever she needs tech assistance from 200 miles away.
