droid vs car (blue tooth)

I have a Droid 4.0 and just recently got a 2010 Lexus. I've been able to connect the phone but my Droid won't allow the data transfer (contacts) to download to the car? Is there some setting I don't have right on my phone that is blocking it? It also will say paired but not connected, and I have to go to phone under bluetooth
