Droid VS Eris....help!

I've had both and the processor (speed), screen (both size and resolution), and 2.0 (now 2.0.1 after the forced update) made me make the switch. I'm very happy with the Droid, though I do agree that Sense UI is sick! That's the only thing I really miss about the Eris though...(Size/weight don't mean that much to me...)

I just pointed out to someone that I think I now know how OSX fanboys feel. If the Droid battery doesn't last longer than the 9 hours I got with the Eris (the reception appears to be just as horrible with the Droid as it was with the Eris), I may switch back (much to the chagrin of the Best Buy employees that have been dealing with me for the last two weeks, I'm sure they absolutely hate me by now - I think I'll go to a different Best Buy). The *only* reasons I switched were the promise of a longer battery life and better reception. I was willing to wait for the Eris update to 2.0, and the processor speed didn't bother me too much (maybe it would have after a year... but the Droid lags *horribly* when swiping between home screens).

Agreed with the size/weight thing, though the Droid is *substantially* heavier than the Eris.

I also note that the Droid has crashed *four times* trying to do a search in the YouTube app. Eris was a little slow playing back flash, but it *never* crashed on me.

*edit*

Oh, and WRT my weather-app comment, I can't get a weather app to *keep* the weather on the Droid, as soon as the phone falls asleep, all the widgets zero-out and stop updating. Didn't have that issue on the Eris.

I *really* don't want to go back *yet again* and exchange phones, why does every phone have to suck horribly in at least one way? :I

*edit2*

Strike 2, <scratch that, looks like it disables the screen on a call, but doesn't disable it anywhere else, Eris was disabling it whenever the sensor was completely covered, or at least wasn't registering strange-taps>

*edit3*

And the strikes keep on going, though this is a Verizon issue: *worst signal ever.* I have an *ancient* Nokia crap-Tracfone, and it gets infinitely better reception than either of these. Considering my sole purpose for this phone is 3G Data (with voice being tertiary, if that), if it keeps dropping back to 1x, I guess I'll be droid-less again.

That was the reason for the battery issue with the Eris. Reason I moved to a Droid was for a better antenna, which would hopefully resolve the "terrible battery life" issue, and now it appears that both phones just have horrible reception.

Any thoughts?

The only thing that bothers me about the Droid is a stupid one, but true. I will never...and I mean NEVER use the physical keyboard of the Droid. I hate it and I have large fingers so can't type easily on it, but the virtual keyboard in either mode is perfect. So I feel that I have half a phone sitting there being wasted. I'd like a Droid that was half as thick and didn't have the keyboard. I know I am way the minority with this thinking...so will likely get it anyway.

I agree that the physical keyboard seems like a waste, but you're not wasting half a phone. There's a lot more than just the keyboard in the bottom half.
