Help Droid will not turn on

I have the same problem for over two months. I was stuck in the bootloader once, I recall there was above 50% battery last time the OS worked. I had some problems with flashing so I had to reset the phone alot so I'm thinking that's what drained the battery fully. After the last reset the phone refused to start at all. I've tried everything, change the battery, pulling out and back in the SIM and SD card, use a wall charger etc. It seems that only the white LED next to the mini-USB port lights up, and it only does that when I plug it in the PC. Is there anything else I could try to wake up this lazy bastard?

Try a battery pull.
If that doesn't work, try a Hard Reset.

Hard Reset
1. Power off phone
2. Use hardware keyboard
3. Press and hold the 'X' key and Power button until you see a screen with an exclamation point inside a triangle
4. Press and hold the Volume Up key then press the Camera button (I had to do this twice) to get menu screen (Linux back-end becomes VERY apparent here)
5. Using the D-pad, select one of the Wipe options (specifically Wipe Data/Factory Reset)
6. Confirm your selection and wait for it to complete
7. Reboot the device
i have the same problem but i tryed it and it didnt work the battery light thing is on so i know its charging but the scree or keyboard wont do any thing. i just charged it all night and when i woke up it wasn't working. (could this be a problem with the screen i had a new LCD screen put in a few months ago)

My Droid A855 - I let the battery run down all the way (accidentally - I usually charge EVERY NIGHT - but failed to this one night).

It would not turn on unless I put a wall charger on it, then within a minute (I could play with phone apps, etc for 1-2 minutes), sometimes before the booting process would finish, the phone would shut off. Tried two different chargers.

When it would run for a minute or two before shutting down, it would show 5% battery life, even though I've had it plugged in for hours (charge light showing).

I tried battery reboot (pull battery out, wait, put back in), plugging into wall, into laptop, etc, etc, etc.

Once when powering on, the boot screen showed up, then it shut right back off. That only happened once.

The phone was disfunctional for the whole weekend.

Then Monday, I took it into Verizon, told them everything. They put it on a charger. It booted up. I was waiting for it to shut off in a minute. The charge raised from 5% to 20%. It started taking a charge. It was at 80% once we came back from lunch.

So I wonder if when the battery is ran all the way down, it takes a very quality charger to get it charged again from that low point ???

Hope this helps anyone who experiences this problem. I'll post if I have more problems, but so far, it looks like it functions normal again. :)

-- I think that because I'm using the USB port on my laptop and not the wall charger that it's trickle charging, and hence took >2 hrs. just to get up to 5%.

No, laptop USBs will not charge (trickle or otherwise) any Motorola device if the laptop is only running off it's own battery. The laptop must be plugged in and charging it's own battery (actually the laptop battery wouldn't even need to be inserted at all if the laptop is A/C plugged) in order for the USB port to provide the required voltage to, yes, only trickle charge. Using the phone for DATA (in tethered mode) will shut OFF any charging ability.

When a laptop is running off battery, its built in USB ports are forced to provide lower power and thus will fail to provide enough power to USB cameras and printers that require higher power to function. When laptops are plugged in (whether or not a battery is present) power provided at the USB ports is high and will power all USB devices properly.

This is kind of what you see with passive vs. powered USB hubs - the power supply MUST be plugged in to A/C or DC for each port on the HUB to provide normal full power at each of its ports - otherwise the power provided at each HUB port will be divided from the one laptop USB port that HUB is plugged into. Passive HUBs - or HUBs in passive mode (not plugged in) wont even pass enough power to any of its ports while plugged into a laptop that is powered by only its battery.

I hope that clears up some part of this discussion of USB charging, but it may also spark some confusion/conversation.

Power ON when BATTERY DIE, and NOT CHARGING
PROPER SOLUTION (followed mofugggz instruction):

REQUIREMENT:- In wall Charger (CHARGER hereafter)
- shall be a properly grounded In wall Charger (with E Earth PIN, which shall has 3 PIN on the power plug, any brand will do)
- shall meet the minimum power rating requirement, depends on your phone (I suggest at least 1A)
- usually it will be the best to use the FACTORY Charger shipped with your phone

STEPS:
1. RESET Battery State (RESET hereafter)
- pull battery out, wait at least 30 seconds
- plug in the CHARGER (without the battery, make sure the CHARGER has plugged into the WALL power socket)
- plug out the CHARGER

2. CHARGING the Battery (CHARGING herefater)
- put in the BATTERY and COVER (cover holds battery stable)
- plug in the CHARGER (with the battery, make sure the CHARGER has plugged into the WALL power socket)
- the phone shall start charging now

3. Power ON (PowerON herefater)
- make the batter has at least 5% charged
- you can now press the power button, to turn on the phone

SUMMARY: check REQUIREMENT => RESET => CHARGING => PowerON

this is about my samsung admire r720: i wanted to backup my rom. opened clockworkmod clicked on backup current rom , phone vibrated then shut off , cant get it to come back on. tryed battery pull and nothing :(

A couple weeks ago I was in the hospital and my phone died. (Not a joke!) I sent the phone (Milestone x2) to the store by a friend. The store replaced the battery and it was like new. Then it quit again last night. Only had my laptop with me and could not charge that way. Using wall charger now. Wish me luck because I about months left on the plan.

Giving it about half hour. Killing time in between.:mad::confused:
