Droid x 2.2 before Inc?

It really is looking like Verizon is putting full muscle behind the Droid X. I wouldn't be surprised if they are royally pissed at HTC right now for not being able to produce enough phones.

I'm starting to get a little worried that Incredible owners will get 2.2 and then be buried.

if any HTC device gets 2.2, you can be sure Dinc will get it. It's probably easier to port motoblur, though, and as such, quicker to be done.

There's been some "leaked Verizon document" roaming around out there that has the Incredible listed on the same phase-out schedule the Eris. So, if the schedule is accurate (somewhat doubtful), it's likely that HTC has a few new models schedule to replace them before the end of the year. My guess is that the shipping delays have been playing heavily into the Incredible's schedule.
Leaked Verizon document? That picture had NOTHING official about it. I could have made that exactly same spreadsheet in 2 minutes, and taken a half-assed picture of it. Not to mention, that document was originated from this exactly forum, where the poster JUST registered, posted a thread to start some FUD, then promised a better picture with the entire document, and instead, never returned. Now thats credibility for you.

The Incredible is getting 2.2. HTC/VZW is not holding out on us. If a few-week period of waiting is too much for you and is the dealbreaker in getting this phone, then go ahead and buy an X (but realize what I mentioned above regarding the Moto Droid being updated to 2.1 and that the X is rumored to get it late summer, which should be around the same time the Incredible gets it). Also, that whole "being phased out" saga had no proof whatsoever that was concrete and had nothing that anyone couldn't just photoshop, so please stop spreading rumors until you hear something official from VZW directly.

I believe that is precisely what will happen. But... a D Inc running Froyo will be nothing to sneeze at.

The reason I believe that is that there will be a lot of LTE devices by Q4 of this year. The D Inc and the D X will be afterthoughts by Christmas.

Except the DX is really being pushed hard now. There could be way more DX users than DI users at that point and we could be forgotten.

DI running froyo will be sweet. Plus the xda guys are great. I didn't really want to root, but if I'm forced to in order to get whatever comes after froyo, I probably will. That's the main saving grace here, I think.

I think I have to send my DI back tomorrow if I want to exchange with a DX. I have small hands and I keep my phone in my pocket and am very worried the DX is just going to be too big.

Here is a post from another forum:
I work for Verizon Wireless. I've been reading over countless threads about the Incredible being discontinued.

What no one saw on that "leaked" equipment guide is the actual SKU related to the device. Yes, the Incredible is on the closeout list, but it's the SKU labeled "ADR6300VW"

What happened is that VZW released the Incredible under the SKU "ADR6300VW2", this includes a box that looks similar to the Droid Eris, and it comes pre-packaged with the 2GB memory card.

As a rep who sells this phone pretty regularly, I don't see this phone disappearing anytime soon. These rumors need to stop.
End of story.

Comments from the article on DroidLife:

I just came back from the Verizon store (had to get a new USB for my wife's Eris). The employee there confirmed for me that the Eris is indeed done. No more will be sold (except for any that might still remain in an actual store). She also stated that, in regards to the Incredible, the discussions have been that once the Droid 2 and Droid X are made available no more new Incredibles will be sold. Any that are on back-order will still be honored. This is not official, but she told me there have indeed been discussions amongst the Verizon brass to get rid of the Incredible.

AND

I work for Verizon. It was from the SKU change. We haven't been able to sell the damn things in over a month because we can't get any in stock in the store. So NO, it is not being phased out yet. There you have it. You're dumb for thinking they would scrap a phone before it had a chance to hit its peak.

Who knows whether there is any truth to either statement. There was another saying Verizon is getting rid of HTC phones completely...too many issues.

I would take these with a grain of salt. I called into the store a couple days before launch day (got mine a couple days early) to see if they had any accessories for the Incredible (gradient case) and they said that they heard that phone wasn't going to be released on Verizon. Two days before launch! Two weeks after preorders started! I told her that was funny because I was calling their store on an Incredible. To which he replied "Oh. News to me."

I don't tend to rely on Verizon employees giving me info. I have found (llike a lot of places) a lot of employees are just there to get a paycheck. The trick is to find one or few who are knowledgeable about there job, like Berry2Droid or seVer, and make friends with them.:D
