Root droid x backup - update *HELP!

So I plan on going back and doing a rooted version of gingerbread because I love the sounds of the battery life.

I want to be able to back everything up so it knows how my home pages are arranged, music is on there, etc. I downloaded MyBackup and it says it saved all that to the SD card. When I wipe the phone, is all of that info gone? They have a paid version that uploads it online so should I opt for that?

Also, will it all look and act the same besides the apps that I will be "freezing"?

Thanks guys

I copied the files it saved onto my SD card onto my laptop so will I be able to restore it from those AFTER I root it?

I'm trying out backup pro now with a complete stock restore will let you know in 10 min. If everything is saved. Also when you do a restore you don't have to wipe the sd card. Just phones internals

So I went into the app and clicked "view" then did apps backup then clicked one of the backups and it said "not enough free space" (which was true) but as I plug in the phone to my computer and drag a bunch of pics and vids to the trash then emptied it. Normally that would clear up space but it still says "Zero kb available", I powered off my phone and it's the same thing

If you are rooted use titanium backup. Also updates don't touch your sdcard.

when I have to update it doesn't that WIPE everything I had on it? Thats why I am talking about backing it up, I cant root it now so tit backup wont work. The backup program backs up to the sd card so I dont want it wiped. I copied the backup files onto my comp though..

I just did a stock restore and it doesn't touch the sd card. I used backup pro because I wasn't rooted and it saved just about everything. I had to redo a few settings but it saved all my apps.

Exactly my case. Worked great! Couple app settings I wish it saved but not a problem to redo. Had to reorganize a few widgets but not a problem either.

Texts were a little finicky, real buggy at first, then I figured it out and it just takes a few seconds for them to load, all the SMS is displayed in order by date but after them, the MMS are organized by date. Grouped together as in SMS vs MMS rather than mixed and organized by date.

only issue now is the contact synching telling me "Too many contacts deletes"
