Root Droid X Boot Animation - Smoother Version

All credit for this animation release goes to Fab, I just made all the images about 20% smaller in file size (not dimensions).

The best place in my opinion for boot animations is data/local. This allows you to keep your stock boot animation in place if you ever decide to delete this new one. The system looks here first anyway for the animation file, then in the system folder. Also if you flash a new rom, and don't wipe data, it should stay in place.

Here is the Torrent link.

when i mount i see data and when i open it i don't see any local. But I went ahead and put it in data anyways. I maybe missing something, but I read all the posts and I can't see what I'm missing.

well there is a folder on the internal phone storage, not your SD card, called data, and inside that folder is one named local. Do you have root explorer, or astro installed on your phone? You can use those programs to copy it there.

It has to be in /data/local - and inside that you should see a /tmp folder as well.

When you get done, you should see
Code:
..
bootanimation.zip
tmp

If you are trying to copy it from your computer, you mount the SDCard, copy the file to your SDCard, then use root explorer or another file manager to get to /data/local - not /sdcard/data.

HTH

my "data/local" is also empty....and Astro doesn't allow you to create the folder.

EDITED: Actually, nevermind. Astro doesn't see anything inside of the data folder. So I downloaded Android Mate and now I see the folders.

Animation doesn't seem to be very smooth.

I don't see any difference between the two. But hey, optimization is always a good thing right? Thanks for your work.

You're welcome Craig. I saw a smoother animation on mine, but I guess it's like everything else here.... every phone is different.

I'm on CM 5.0.8 for the Droid. I checked /data/local and their is no bootanimation.zip in there or any sound file.

When I go to /system/media I see a "bootanimation.zip" and a "audio" folder.

How would I go about installing this boot animation and the audio?

Even though there is no zip file there now, just paste it in there. It will work. This version doesn't have sound, neither does the one Fab posted to.
