Help Droid X - Cut and Paste

Are you in edit mode in mail when you try to copy/cut? I use K-9 mail and you can cut/copy/paste while editing an email.

Are you certain about it coming with 2.2? I'm not doubting, I just haven't seen this anywhere else.

This is the only real complaint I have about this phone. I really needed the function for work and it wasn't there. As a long time BB user I just assumed that every smartphone would have this. I'm glad I didn't know the phone lacked this, because I likely wouldn't have bought it, and there are so many other reasons it is superior.

As a new Droid X user, the lack of cut/paste in email or text messaging is an unpleasant surprise.
I rely heavily on this feature for work. Without this capability on my mobile device I have to break-out my laptap to do the same thing that I usually do with my iPhone...
Of course I couldn't make calls on my iPhone but that's why I have a Droid X now. :D

It's a feature in 2.2.

I've seen recent reports that 2.2 doesn't fix the problem. Apparently I have to root to get an app to cut and paste - and then it is not always a perfect copy. What the hell?

How can such a basic function be overlooked?

Reminds me of when I bought my first iPhone, and took it back, because some essential fundamental capabilities like this were missing. That was well over a year ago. I went back to the iPhone when the OS was released that fixed this and several other fundamental problems or shortcomings.

Nice to see Android is so advanced. LOL

I may just do that. But I really shouldn't have to. If it is possibly by root, Motorola could make it a function, right? Why should I have to go all techie to make the damn thing work?

I read that it was not resolved with 2.2. Can one of you rooted leak suckers confirm please... :p

Well I thought my post would have confirmed it, but maybe you are looking for a developer or something. BTW I am rooted, but that has nothing to do with it. While in email you can simply click the four box button --> then select more --> select text --> select the text you want and it places it on the clip board.

antnyh, no offense intended. I thought you had to be rooted to install the leaked froyo. You see my level of technical sophistication. It wasn't clear to me from your post that you were confirming based on actual use.
But thanks, that is great news!

None taken, I just thought you might have been seeking the wise advice from one of the mods or devs. I agree that it isn't the best in the world and I had a BB Storm myself and I consider this feature a step backwards IMO.

I was appalled it didn't have it on my new Droid X under the old system.
I just downloaded the official 2.2 and I can now cut from an email (Gmail) and past it into my calendar. Hallelujah!
:D

It's a feature in 2.2.

2.2 is out (Froyo) and while you can do cut/copy/paste in Gmail, you cannot in Yahoo Mail. Thus far the feature is not very robust and I rely on it a lot. This is making me rethink leaving the iPhone for Android. And I HATE AT&T.

I have to say from day one of using my Android phone.... it was more of a Hemoriod phone... this is a HUGE short coming of this technogolgy... HUGE... FIX the Damn problem PEOPLE!
