Accessories Droid X extended battery

The battery is 1930 mah. I'm gonna try to run it down overnight and fully recharge it to break it in, then see how long it lasts. Fits in the car dock no problem which a lot of people anticipated.

The extended battery lasts me aprx 25% longer. It does fit the Sedio Innocase surface (with the new battery cover) just fine. I don't like how it fits the verizon case holster, way too tight for me.

If I use the VZW case & holster is it necessary to use the battery cover at all since the case provides adequate protection.

I use my X with pretty decent use. Lots of txting, little surfing the web and my new addiction of playing the same old NES games that I loved when I was a kid. With the stock battery I would get roughly 9 and a half hours of use out of the battery. Now I get roughly 15-16 hours of solid use. Keep in mind that I work from home and my house doesn't get great cell reception. If I lived just a few blocks over I would think I could get 18-19 hrs out of the extended battery.

Received my extended battery Tuesday (8-17-2010). Charged it up Tuesday night. Had a full day usage with the battery on Wednesday. What can I say? Couldn't be happier. I was getting really good battery life with the battery that came in the X but this battery is superb.

Right now I'm at 18 hours unplugged, with 50% left. Whomever designed the battery and new door did a great job. The extra thickness (if you can call it that) is hardly noticeable. The new supplied battery door when fitted to the phone is just a hair thicker than the original door. With my corporate discount it was the best $35 I've spent this year.

How is the Seidio Surface's fit with the new door though? Snug? Normal?

If not too snug, how is this possible when the case wasn't made for the extended door? Wouldn't it be too loose then with the regular door?

Any pics of the Surface on the phone with the new door?

EDIT: Nevermind- http://androidforums.com/accessories-droid-x/150066-seido-surface.html

I have the same concerns. Just ordered the extended battery. I like the Seidio case design and there aren't a lot of cases out there that protect both the phone and the screen (face-in holster protected the screen). I e-mailed Seidio and they said that the OEM battery woudl not fit, but I don't know if that is because they don't really know for the Droid X, or they want to sell me their extended battery. But like may people said wit the orig battery door fitting but putting pressure on the screen, I wouldn't want the Seidio case to put too much pressure on the device with the extended battery door.

I am using the Extended Battery with no cover at all, with my Verizon Case & Holster. Works just fine. I then take the Case off each night to put it in my Desktop charger. Don't bother to put the battery cover on to charge.

My battery life is all over the place. some days good, some days bad, and I don't really do anything different. Some days I go all day and still have 40% left. last night I had 10%. that's a huge variation.

One day my batt life was 3 hours.

I am having the same issue. With what I believe is pretty consistent usage, some days I get great battery life and other days it is horrible. I don't know if the battery gauge is "off", or if there is some application that "hangs" and runs down the battery.

Just bought the extended battery at local VW store and the $5 snap on case I bought on eBay (Rocketfish knock-off) still fits nicely with the new battery cover.

I picked up mine from a corporate store this evening for the full price less my 25% discount. The original battery cover fits over the extended battery just fine and requires very little additional effort to put in place. The extended door works fine with the Amzer case I bought a few weeks ago, so you should not have any problems with your existing cases. Now to see how long the battery makes it tomorrow.

second that, just got my battery at the same price.... i didnt realize just how small 1mm is... and i'm seriously shocked that motorola didn't design it in some kind of way to fit the original cover ... the orginal cover fits fine and i like the idea of knowing my battery will not become lose... and when you put on the original case you can really tell that there isn't an overstrain or that much squeeze on the phone.... there's no more strain than on the phone than a tight case for the phone... couldn't be happier... now time to see the battery life results.... :D

$28 with corporate discount :p

I saw that after I posted.

Don't have the corp discount, but could ask my sister to order for me, but not worth the extra effort IMO.

BTW, ordered the extended X battery from Verizon and it's on BO.

With so many people saying the old back cover fits on fine, I wonder if there is some variance in how tightly different people's old back covers are fitting on the phone with the new battery. With how insanely hard mine is to put on, I can't imagine anyone would say it fits alright. There's no way I would consider leaving the old back cover on mine because of how tight it is.

My original cover actually went on pretty east, almost the same as with the original battery in, and the cover that came with the extended battery was actually loose. It's ok though I'd prefer to use the old cover anyway. Anyone else have this issue?

Ordered last night (thanks for the discount code), received a Email this morning that it's back-ordered. Called and asked for a ship by estimate and was told Motorola hasn't provided that information.
Oh well, no rush I guess since the og battery lasts a decent amount of time.

So I have the battery, but I'm hesitant to use it at the moment because I'm worried as to what to do with the original battery. Should I just let the battery sit? Is it going to make it lose charge? How are you guys charging both batteries?

It's going to lose a charge and will need to be periodically charged. I'd consider just using it for a few days, charge it up and set it aside in a cool place.

I don't want to be swapping batteries all the time. It's too much work to take off my case. I thought I'd sell it to one of the guys at work. It's a good battery, only about a month old and I can get over 3 days on a charge with light use. Besides, they just got their phones so I doubt they can get half a day on a charge 'cause they can't keep their paws off it. :D

Using extended battery and the new back cover. The cover is VERY tight and hard to get off. I am considering trying the old original cover or not using a cover and just using my AMZER crystal hard case.

I have had the new extended battery for several days and the difference over the standard battery is tremendous.

I'm using the new battery cover which, to me, does not noticeably add to the size of the phone at all. I can't imagine any case that fit the X with the old battery door not fitting with this new door.

The new door fits exactly the same as the old one on my X. It slides on and off just as easily.
