Just had to share....
I got my extended battery yesterday and charged it fully. I am currently on 24 hours since being unplugged and still have 30% left...
I only expect that it will get better but this has blown me away! There is practically no difference in size with the new cover and battery in it. VERY happy and wish I had gotten one right away....not that I had bad battery life before but just the ease of mind of knowing what this baby can do when it says "100%" makes me not have to worry about charging at all for at least a full day of heavy use.

The cheap batteries from China, 98% of the time, are not OEM batteries. They're usually either off-brand batteries, or off-brand batteries that are labeled to look like OEM batteries.

Found that out the hard way. My 2 are both off brand, neither work in the phone (powers it but thats all) and the chargers USB port doesnt charge the phone, and the damn wall plug already broke (4 days) so i have to move each pin independantly. Emailed them, theyre sending me new ones as replacement, but really, it doesnt matter.
Now with my BB I DID get OEM (hologram and all) from china for 9$ each or something. Maybe I got a good seller that time
Just went out to the VZW store and picked up an extended. Awesome. I have the rubberized case/holster combo made by VZW (the black one with the "parquet" design [kind of - if you have the same case, you know what I mean]). Anyway, believe it or not, the case fits nicely over the extended battery and the holster still works, albeit a little bit snugger.With 20% more battery capacity, what's not to like?
Can you fit this into a car mount with the new extended battery? Or is it too large and it won't fit? I love the car mount and GPS (drive a lot in LA!).

Just my input on the extended battery. I've had it a few weeks and could not be happier.
The weight and slight increase in thickness isn't noticeable. I held another X in my other hand (it had the stock battery) and couldn't tell the difference.
As for performance - wow! I couldn't be more pleased. As a reference, and according to the current battery manager stats, I have had it off the charger for almost 16 hours. It's at 20% still. Voice calls = 61% (4 hours, 6min) Display = 14% (3hrs 1 min). The next highest % is cell standby at 5% (all other number are less than 5%, so won't go into those). Lots of calling (see above), text messaging, downloads, tons of e-mails and a couple of games.
I am a heavy user of smartphones - always have been by the nature of work. I have NEVER had a phone with this kind of useage that I didn't have to plug in or swap batteries at least a couple of times a day.
Hope this is helpful to anyone considering the upgrade to the extended battery.
PS..My battery profile is set to "Performance". All data is always running, being pushed with no limitations or time constraints.

Been saying this for over a month now. and its even more important when you get a new battery, they aren't going to function identically.
Everyone should let the phone go until it dies on its own, and then recharge at least once. No it will not harm the battery as the phone is not letting the battery get below 2 volts output. This will let the battery meter/manager recalibrate and not go into protection mode so quickly. allowing you to use the phone at more than 3oo mhz processor when the battery meter gets to orange or red.
The phone will not let the battery reverse cells, despite what somepeople seem to think. But it does need to know how far it can go.
Oh, and it looks like it must have been an Incredible user who was complaining about the battery tests being unfair. Ok so I know the Incredible is a smaller sized phone, so maybe that's why they didn't put a larger battery in it. But it has a Super Amoled (read, battery eating) screen right? So that brings me right back to, 'why didn't they go bigger'?
Surely they must have tested the phone and knew it was getting less than 5 hours talk time while their direct competition was getting almost twice that... didn't they care? It seems to me that these phone manufactureres aren't aware how important to us consumers battery life really is.
You know how every generation seems to have something the previous generation never would have thought possible? Our grandparents had cars they could get in and drive around in without needing a horse to pull it. Our parents could get in an airplane and fly across the Pacific ocean in less than a days time. We had walkmans and portable mini tv's that allowed us to carry our entertainment around where ever we wanted to go. And this generation has telephones that are as powerful as computers from the 80's that used to occupy entire warehouses... I can envision my grandchildren having phones that come with fully charged batteries that don't need charged or replaced for the next 4 to 5 years (like my wristwatch). But until that day comes, make my phone a bit thicker, and give me the big-gulp please!
The answer is simple. They make money selling extended batteries.

also, you need to talk to the PMs who are CONVINCED you need to meet or beat any and all iphone specs. IE: best battery life possible in the same package size. and with the replaceable battery, the extended is an option. so thats a marketing kill there.

Silicone Glossy - Fits
Leather case w/ kickstand - Fits, but kickstand rattles on the back

The VZW rep was nice enough to take the cases out of the containers to try, but none of them really were to satisfaction for me. I own the Best Buy regular case and a rep let me try the Platinum case as well.
Hope that helps! If anyone knows any other that fits, I'd be extremely interested to find out...I think someone said the Seidio Innocase Surface works but I'd like to know ahead of time before throwing down on another $30 case...

Mine will only fit if I leave one side not snapped together.
..if I snap it all together, I get the black/rainbow edged pressure spots on the screen...this means I also can't use the clip or kickstand as the pressure spots are worse when I insert the piece that has the knob on the back. Basically it's now an illfitting hard case with no clip...I emailed Seidio about the Innocase surface and they said it will not work with the extended battery...probably they have to say that for liability reasons but I'm not wasting any more money until I know for sure!

I just got the Verizon OEM Holster sold alone for the Droid X for $19.95..
I am using it without a case at the momemnt. It fits my Droid with the Extended battery just fine.
I hadn't tried the Silicone Glossy case that you mentioned fits the Droid X with the Extended batterry. Hopefully, the phone with the silicone case might still fit the holster.
Frankly, I really don't see how most of these cases really protects the phone much from drops. As long as the screen is exposed as it is with most of these cases, the most vulnerable part of the phone could get damaged. Perhaps a leather pouch offers more protection, but then you don't have quick accessibility to the phone when calls come it. The nice thing about the Verizon stand alone holster is the power button is exposed and accessbile without taken the phone from the holster. So if I want to end an incoming call and send it to email, I can just hit the power button .In addition, the screen faces inward protecting it from scratches even without a case. Sure, the back of the phone is exposed to getting scratched, but at least that isn't a functional concern.
I know what you mean, but think of how a phone falls: When it slips from a pocket or your hand, it's going to tumble to the ground - you have a much higher chance of dinging an edge than scraping the screen. Consider some of the cracks iPhone users have had...they usually originate from a corner or side impact...
So to some degree, a skin or 2-piece will offer a little protection by cushioning the edges. 2-pieces have the added benefit of raised sides; the gap also helps protect the screen. Covering the phone completely is truly your best bet but skins are a decent alternative IMO...

I dropped mine yesterday and it fell nearly flat on its face. The little holster case has a small lip around the edge if the screen and it protected it! Other ti.e it went down on the corner after i didn't lock it into the holster right :/

I just was at Best Buy and tried the Platinum Case with Holster made by Seido. My DroidX with Extended battery and extended battery door DID fit the case just fine. It took a bit of manipulating to get the sides to fully close, but there were no significant gaps where the two halves of the case meet. The case/holster combination costs $34. Because the case material is soft it didn't seem to be putting any adverse pressure on the screen.
Weird...I tried mine and it didn't work...good to know though!
