Droid X MultiTouch Keyboard on Evo...

so who all is getting bad lag and who isn't, my stock keyboard isn't laggy at all, but i might want to try this out

I havent gotten any lag at all from it.

I do miss the arrow keys and the button to minimize the kb though that the Droid KB lacks. You have to hit the back button to take the kb of screen.

Other than that it works pretty good. I like it.
 
Anyone that is curious about it just needs to try it. It takes a couple of minutes to get downloaded and installed and you can disable or uninstall at any time with no effects.

I am keeping it for my go-to touch-to-type keyboard, but I still like ShapeWriter so much better. The built-in and Multi-Touch keyboards get little to no use from me.
 
I'm not getting any lag at all. I have tried forums, webpages, sms, you name it.

In fact, I'm sitting here trying different things now trying to get lag and so far nothing. It responds way quicker then I can type.
 
I was able to get the Droid boot animation to my Evo, but can't get sound to work, has anyone been able to do that on your Evo, and if so, how?
 
It's great! I love the look and it responds so much faster/better. It brought my iPhone fast typing back to me.
 
I installed it but I still find my self using Swype most of the time. Its a good alternative to the stock one though
 
This keyboard has nothing on swype except for the voice command. If swype had voice command it would be the best keyboard out there.

Being a Red Sox fan I think it's natural for me to disagree with you :). No seriously Swype and this keyboard are so different that it's all chalked up to personal preference. I love this keyboard and liked Swype but don't think one is better than the other. They both are efficient in how they approach the Evo.
 
Ok. So i am giving this one a try. Using the predictive typing feature is pretty handy. I might be tempted to use this if my Swype beta is ever lost. Im just too good at Swyping now.

Things i don't like. It doesn't seem to capitalize the word i which is weird. It does not seem to have arrow keys, which is a show stopper. Finally while i like the large keys in landscape, the visible text area becomes too small with the predicted word area.

So i will probably stick to Swype.

The one thing that I don't like about the multi-touch is that there isn't a dedicated comma button. I'm not sure if the one from xda is the same but the version I have you need to hold down the period button to bring up other punctuation marks.

if you double tap the period, you'll get a comma.
 
xda rocks.... i just don't see this keyboard being all that great. maybe a little better than the stock. the color feedback is cool and all. but i don't see how it's better or faster really than any peck and poke KB. tell me why it's better?
 
I have a little bit of lag when I'm using Handcent to send a message the first time I'm sending a message after I turn on the screen. I don't seem to have any other issue at all but the lag is only when I press the first letter other than that everything is fine. I will try the double tap to get the comma. Thanks for the tip.
 
It's nice but I'm much faster with Swype. If Swype had speech to text and multi-touch in landscape mode I would pay whatever they asked. ;-)
 
when i download the keyboard...i get the error message, open file error. no application can be found to open this file...is there something im missing???
