Droid X or wait?

Greek

Newbie
Hey guys, I was just curious on what your thoughts are about upgrading to a droid x? I was planning on waiting for the Thunderbolt to drop in hopes that the droid x would become dirt cheap or the Thunderbolt would release at an ok price, but now I see that the iPhone brought with it the end of the new every two discount as of tomorrow. So I was considering just picking up a droid x so I can reset the upgrade status before it ends tomorrow.

Also I should add that I'm still holding onto the droid eris right now, and I'm really getting sick and tired of it, especially now that the trackball is now having a mind of its own. Verizon also won't help me because it's out of warranty. :(

I could probably just tough it out for another 2 months and pick up something then in hopes that the Thunderbolt comes out in March, but I'm really worried that it's actually not gonna release to June and I'm gonna be stuck with this until then.

I'd also like to check out the 4g network if it's available in my area, as I'm getting pretty sick and tired of having to wait for stuff to load on my phone, but I probably won't be interested if they start to charge alot more for 4g than they do for 3g now. (I usually get around 50 kbps down on campus with 3g. wtf verizon?)

So, I'm not really sure what to do.

Any advice?

Thanks.

u can get the droid x for 49.99 at wirefly or amazon or letstalk.com the droid x is nice just doesnt have a front facing camera

Do you guys know of any new news about the pricing plans for 4g? I've heard stuff ranging from current data plan customers being grandfathered in to a higher price with capped data.

1. Price of 4G.
2. Specs of Thunderbolt wasn't shocking enough.
3. Most people aren't due for an upgrade especially since new every 2 is gone.
4. Price of the Phone vs already released phones
5. Not rooted yet(You have to be patient and wait a bit.

I'm sticking with the Droid Incredible until I know for sure everything 4G/Thunderbolt wise

If you are getting a new phone soon wait for the Thunderbolt . Personally I did not like the Droid X at all compared to the Incredible , and I know people are all hung up on spec sheets but the Thunderbolt is a better phone the the DX in every area (except the lack of HDMI )

You might check out Sears, they give a discount for upgrading a non-primary line. Not as big a discount as it is for the primary line, but it's something. As for which phone to get? Compare the features and see if any of the extras on the Thunderbolt make a difference for you, as for data plan pricing, we will all have to wait and see what is announced.

wait a sec... are you saying that a second (or third) line on a family plan doesn't get the same upgrade policy that the primary line gets? because I sure do on my family plan...

It gets the same pricing through Verizon, but not through third party's such as Wirefly, or Sears which typically have lower prices.
