Help droid x RAM question

hey guys i had a quick question i know that the droid x has 512 mb of ram? correct me if im wrong however i was messing with my phone today and went into manage apps and went to"running" tab and in the bottom right corner where it says free ram thats not being used it only said about 99mb to 120mb it changed in between that range when i checked it at different times....i know that if the phone is really low on ram it may start to become laggy or run really slow and i was wondering what the average amount of ram that should be free is..i thought that 99mb of free ram was particularly low and started to wonder if there was something wrong with my phone or if most peoples phones are showing that same amount of available ram??? help plzzz:confused:

Nope, nothing wrong with your phone in this regard. Android and Gingerbread will keep apps in the background to fully utilize RAM so that apps that it thinks you may need will open quicker when you call for them. If you open a new app that requires more RAM than is available, the system will automatically close one or more of the apps in the background to free up RAM for the applications being used.
