Droid X tether porblem

Hi I'm a newby all around. Just got a droid x fro Costco. I am rving not so was hoping to tether to may mac book pro (os 10.5.8) with PDAnet but so far no luck. I get a "phone detached" message. Any help would be appreciated. I tried a friend older droid and it worked.

I'm sorry for your porblem. There's a pull-down menu at the top when you plug in. Pull down and make your selection.

Did you enable USB Debugging?

I have the same problem.. I think there's a problem with some usb cords. If you call them they may give you a new one.
