Help Droid X texting!!

First of all, I am loving Swype, but sometimes I want to text normally.

Why isn't it suggesting real words when I text? I have it set to "Show Suggestions" and "Auto-correct Errors". But when I text my words are a mess because apparently I didn't push the letters right on. What is the point of auto correct if it is not going to correct it with "real" words?

On all of my other phones I could just text and it would correct my common mistakes. What is up with this Droid X?

Long press on the text area and select input method. You can change it to the multi-touch keyboard if you want.

I have it set to multi-touch keyboard. As I text my words are a jumbled mess...no real words...basically I have to be a perfect texter for it to make sense.

OK, hard menu button, settings, language and keyboard, multi-touch, be sure there is a check in the bottom 2 boxes.
