Droid X vs Samsung Galaxy S

looks like the only thing Galaxy S has when it comes to UI and performance is picture/video quality. The UI on the Droid X is miles ahead of the UI on the Galaxy S

sooo....obviously the touchwiz is a lag. as some of us expected this from samsung...we need a beast or cyanogen rom on there

Application performance seems to be a great deal faster with the Droid X. I think the UI of the Galaxy S is just bogging down the phone.

Unfortunately there are many things of interest (to me) that he does not test such as volume, phone usage, fm radio, ruggedness...

Having both devices for a few days, the Galaxy S has a bug with slow access times to the internal memory (NAND) and thus it is slower in launching apps and pretty much the device comes down to a crawl if you have an app that requires lots of DB access.
The Droid X as super fast internal memory and thus feels snappier when opening apps.
I also noticed that on the DX the default moto launcher is slowing down the phone. changing it with Launcher pro and the phone is flies.

Add a task killer, spare parts and it will be a winner. :p Look at how nice, bright and crisp the screen is. ;)

There was no test of Audio Quality, Phone Reception or Clarity, 3D video performance, Color accuracy, no demonstration of either the Camera Shutter Speeds (FYI the Droid X has a Physical Shutter) and other features or Video Camera features. No mention of the fact that the Samsung does not have a camera flash so low light pictures are useless and there were no 3D video game tests!

I just can not imagine these phones running Froyo!

I think the screen is better on the X. Look at the street sign, the words are clearer and u can see the shadows on the sign. U can see more details on the X.

I thought these Samsung phones had Super Amoled? They didnt address the sharpness going to Super?

Seeing this makes me want an LCD screen always. Give me more details vs. vibrant colors.

And I know its preference....lol

Launcher Pro makes screen scrolling ridicously fast and smooth.

I would disagree the Galaxy S looked oversaturated to me. But I am a TV nut that can not stand the way most people watch their TVs.

Talk about iphone ripoff. They even copied the "working" symbol.

It is very funny. The look is so obviously an iPhone wannabe, you have to wonder what sort of ribbing Galaxy owners would take from iPhone users. I prefer the Droid X, which competes functionally with the iPhone in every way but doesn't try and mimic it.

Frankly, I'd be a little embarrassed to own the Galaxy S because it tries too hard to be an iPhone. I'd rather own a phone that stands on its own merits and has its own identity.

Verizon Fascinate does have flash. ;)

Apple needs to quit trying to bring lawsuits to HTC and go after Samsung. Heck even the camera is in the same corner

APPLE would NEVER go after SAMSUNG...the reason is something that most people did not know...SAMSUNG is the one who made all the CPU's for all the iphones till now...SASMUNG recently partnered with INTRISITY to design the Hummingbird CPU for the Galaxy S and when APPLE found out how fast that setup was, well, they couldn't beat it so what did they do?

They BOUGHT OUT INTRISITY...LOL....

These are FACTS..do some research and you will see.

If you are truly serious, that's amazing! Wow, so Samsung has a lot of potential then. Sweet deal. I hope rest of phone lives up to outstanding build quality. :)

i couldnt agree more, if i wanted an iphone i'd buy an iphone....not this complete ripoff. apparently no shame on samsung's part for making this device.

One other factor to consider in the DX vs. GS debate. Assuming either/both ATT and TMo provide good voice/3G coverage where you live/work, if you travel much to Europe (or other GSM locations), it should be possible to root/unlock your device to enable its use wherever you go (e.g., with prepaid voice/data SIMs in Europe). The nice thing is that you'll have a powerful Android device with you (with access to your data, networks, etc.). That's the one issue with the DX that could tilt some decisions.

As for custom ROMs on the GS...while it's too early to predict how successful the device will be, the fact that it'll be available through ~100 carriers (they've already sold >200K of them in Korea!) means that there'll likely be a strong and vigorous developer community for it pretty quickly, and faster to get up to speed than with HTC and Moto devices, so I'm hopeful rooting techniques, custom ROMs, etc., will be out there well before the end of the year.

Had a Samsung phone a while back (the Glyde)....worst touch screen ever. It was honestly such a bad experience I will NEVER buy a Samsung phone ever again. Ever. In my life.

Of the dozen or so phones incompatible with Ford's Sync, all but two are Samsungs.

I am going to try to get the droid x 30 days from the release date of the fascinate.

i currently have a samsung omnia. i don't have any problems with it (other than windows mobile sucks), but it seemed like the day that phone was released, samsung moved on and never looked back at it. i found a new rom for mine; i can't imagine being stuck with the touchwiz that came with it.

It has really never been about Samsung's quality. It is much more about their support. Or should I say lack there of.
