Help droid x will not connect with gps. help!!

ncdude

Newbie
Hi everyone, I have a Droid x rooted and using ads launcher. The problem is that I cannot get my Droid to connect to GPS. All it does is blink looking for a signal and never connects. What can I do to fix this?

Thanks for the help,

Scott.

Are you outside with a clear view of the sky when you try to connect? GPS doesn't work very well indoors. If you are outside and still not connecting, there are a couple things you can try: go into Menu>Location & Security and make sure you have Use wireless networks, Use GPS satellites and Enable Assisted GPS all checked. Also make sure you have the GPS turned on, but it sounds like you do since the little satellite is blinking on you notification bar. And sometimes it just takes it a little while to figure out where it is. Like if you have recently moved a long distance, it won't see the sats it's expecting, and may take a little while to download new almanac and figure out it's new position. You can also download an app called GPS Test and run that outside, it might kick-start the chip and get it going.

I've found that once in a while, the phone just loses GPS connectivity. When that happens, I have to reboot.

That's a good thing to try too. A lot of times on an Android phone, if something isn't working quite right, powercycle it. A lot of times, that takes care of whatever the problem is. Usually it's something just hanging up or errored out, and the reboot fixes that.
