Root DroidX rooted vs updates

luapsided

Lurker
I rooted my phone quite awhile ago, really for no reason. I have downloaded some apps but never really use them (apps for rooted phones). Now the newest update has come out for the droidx and it won't update, as I am sure its because my phone is rooted. I don't know much, in detail, for the pros of a rooted cell phones, at least for me. So Im hoping to bring my phone back to its stock form and to start over again. What are the steps in doing so. I've tried a couple things people posted online, but most are pretty confusing. Unrooting for dummies is what I am looking for. :) Like the superuser app cannot be deleted and the clockworkmod is kind of annoying. I just want a factory phone again. If anyone can give me a good link or help me out, I'd be very happy. Thank you!

Welcome to Android Forums, luapsided. :)

Personally, I don't know anything about 'rooting' devices, but one thing I've heard, is that you "don't accept OTA updates" to the device. The kind folks over at your device's support area will better assist you with your concern.

P.s. Just wanted to let you know I moved your thread to the Motorola Droid X (ATR) Forum hopefully get it some better responses.

We need more information. What do you mean by "it won;t update"? What are you doing and how is it failing?

press the bottom hard button on your phone all the way to the left.
choose "settings"
scroll down
choose "about phone"
scroll to system version
let us know what that version is and we'll know what to do from there.
also, welcome to the dx forum!
