When you download pics using dropbox they arrive in the dropbox folder on your SD card. To get them viewable in the gallery you'd need to do one of two things
1) If possible (I haven't looked at the stock app) set your gallery app to read from the dropbox folder.
2) Using an Android file manager, move the files from the dropbox folder on your SD card to whatever folder the gallery is using - 'Pictures', or something like that I'd guess.

To move/copy pictures, I plug my NC into my pc.
To copy kernels/roms, anything that can stay in my dropbox folder, I use dropbox.
Otherwise you can long press the file with Root Explorer and copy, then navigate to the destination folder, make sure the folder is R/W, then long press and paste.
