Help dropped evo 4g question

so i dropped my evo 4g on the concrete, shattered the face/glass. The phone turns and you can call it, but nothing on the screen. Do i need just the touch digitizer/glass or the lcd too? I thought i read somewhere that the lcd will not work with shattered glass screen, but other people say the lcd should work regardless of the shattered glass. Thanks in advance.
