Dropped LTE Doesn't Power Back On

I got my new evo 4g lte on thursday. It worked well for about 24 hours then the screen went black and the phone would not turn back on. The light doesn't even come on when hooked to a charger. I went by 2 Sprint stores, same response from both. They had not even seen the phone yet and didn't know how to fix it. After an hour on the phone with sprint I was finally given a number to call next week after the holiday. Any one else have problems?

I was putting it in my holster and dropped it on a parking lot. I thought nothing of it, since I had a Otterbox defender covering it, but now it doesn't come back on. I tried the soft reset which is holding down the power button for 10 seconds. Tried to charge it, no light.

Apparently it's pretty common

Sprint Community: HTC EVO 4G LTE WILL NOT POWER ON

I might be off team Evo, that happened waaaaay too easily.

Did you try to hold the power button while pressing volume down? I think that is another reset way.

So 4(5 including you) people with an is equivalent to a 'common' problem? Either way it sucks for those that have the issue, but that's what the 14 day return period is for. This is also another reason where it would be great to be able to actually access the battery. No one can tell me that pressing buttons is the same thing as pulling a battery.

I could have sworn I said "pretty common"

Considering the phone was just released, it's probably going to be a frequent problem.

Could be, could be not. I think the jury is way out on that one. The link you provided has 4 ppl with phones that did not power on for absolutely no reason. In your situation you dropped the phone. Kind of different scenario. It'll be interesting to see if this becomes an issue. I know the the prevalant issue with the 3vo was the digitizer going screwy. This is what sprint techs told me the biggest issue with that phone was and I experienced it on two phones. Seems when HTC has an issue it is consistent accross the production line. I'll be keeping my eye out on this one.

out of the thousands of handsets sold, only 5 have issues not powering on. i think its a wee bit early to call it a widespread issue.

forums 101: people do not (usually) sign up to post how great their (insert mass produced/assembly line) item is...they post up to complain and ask why it does not work. :)

i would think the bluetooth and wifi issues to be more widespread than the phone not powering on.

yes we love the 14 day return policy (i miss the old 30 day return "no questions asked" policy)

Did I say it was a widespread issue? The link was from a google.

You can argue semantics all you want, I just wanted to pass along the information. The majority of the people will just take their phone back, not post on a message board. This board is only a small sampling and the phone is still newly released. In the future I'll just keep it to myself. You should be encouraging people to post possible problems. Instead of giving the response you gave me.

I was in no way discouraging you. To the contrary I said I'd keep my eye out in regards to the issue. Thank you for reporting it on the board. The only thing I was trying to help you see is that it's a bit early to say a problem is common or pretty common. It could turn out to be that way or maybe there were just a few bad devices in the line. Time will tell. I will say this, there hasn't been one issue(small or large) with either my 3VO or OG EVO that I couldn't get info on from these boards.

I probably was being a little sensitive.

Anyway, luckily Best Buy got another big shipment in today. They tried everything I tried and gave me a new phone. Came to my senses about getting a S3, since I've been a pretty loyal HTC guy and haven't had any problems except with one 4G.

Seems to be selling well. Two people got it while I was there.

Only 5 managed to find their way to the Sprint community Web and post about it. I would bet for everyone one that has posted, there are 10 who haven't...

Mine just did the EXACT same thing about 10 min ago....Im FURIOUS!!! Phone wont work PERIOD! Will be taking it back to Sprint as soon as they open in the morning!!

Ive had my EVO LTE for 2 days now....not dropped it or anything....I have the HBO Go App and got 5 min into a movie when POOF! My phone shut off! I had almost a full battery but thought Id just plug it in anyways...the charging light didnt even come on....held the power button down and NOTHING....its been about a half hour now and my phone still wont power back on, no matter how long I hold buttons or use different button combinations....its just...DEAD! So needless to say I will be going to the Sprint store as SOON as they open in the morning!! Not exactly happy about this....thinking I might just go ahead and return it and go back to my regular Evo 4G until the LTE has been out longer and more "bugs" and "Kinks" worked out....
