Help Dropped my S2 in a puddle

gek00

Newbie
Today, I dropped my phone in a puddle and I just wiped it...

I checked both the speakers and the earphones seems to be ok

The problem with it was at the first few mins it didnt charge at all but after some time, it began charging again

Im a bit alarmed right now and was wondering if any had the same experience and suffered long term consequences following the incident

Unfortunately, you have done the worst thing... namely, turned it on. Electricity and water tend to not mix very well. Water damage can take days or weeks to manifest itself I'm afraid.

I do have a case though so the battery didnt get wet but the problem is the charging outlet cause now whenever I charge theres a delay before it charges...

And also the puddle wasnt that deep, it only submersed the side of my phone, a bit on the side of the front screen, speakers and charging outlet

Ahh, you got me lol but yeah Im gonna observe the phone for a few weeks like you said if any anomaly would come up

Hopefully no other abnomarlities would come up besides the charging cause it seems fine at the moment..

Be reasonable gek00... do what it says in that link, (although it may well be too late now anyway). Better to be safe than sorry. The choice is yours.

Remove the battery and put the phone and battery into a bag of rice for about 72 hours..take it out of the case first.

If you keep charging it there's a good chance you'll bake your phone..probably even wake up with a house fire. Electricity and water...big no no.

I did what you guys adviced but just so you know my phone didnt turn off when it got wet; I even used it just today but just to play safe even if it might be too late, did both of your advices.

Currently my phone is on a bag of rice

Thanks for the advices

Hi

I had a similar case but its not that bad. While I was driving I had the phone on the opposite seat, and as I was turning at the round about, the phone swinged to the side of the door and dropped to the floor from the gap of the door and the seat. I investigated the phone, I can't find anything wrong with the phone. Should I do something about the phone?

Nah. Fall damage is usually noticeable- shattered screen, dented case etc.

If the phone looks fine and works fine, it's fine.

(this does not apply to water damage)
