Dropping to 1 x

Hey all, I'm new here and just got an EVO V about 4 days ago. Why does the signal drop to 1 x when texting? Is it supposed to do this? I have 5 bars at my home, just sent a couple texts, yet it drops to 1 x when sending?

My gf and I have the same phone and hers drops to 1x a lot. Is yours the Sprint or Virgin branded EVO V 4G? My gf's is the Sprint branded, but a lot of people here say there is no difference between the 2. So, I'm just hoping the update helps with a lot of our issues. Sorry I'm not much more of a help

Its due to a radio issue. Regardless of the phone (sprint branded or VM branded) it's the same issue. The phone is EXACTLY the same hardware wise, but the software is a bit different. Barely, mind you. A few APN tweaks, and that's about it.

The update that's coming today SHOULD resolve it.

I just check for it under menu > system updates > htc software update.


You SHOULD get a notification though

Yes, I hit "ok" and it said " installed" after about 10 seconds. don't know what it was for though .

As Prinny posted, it just updated the personalization application to the latest version, there's no changelog but they probably just cleaned it up and fixed a few bugs. Nothing earth shattering so I really wouldn't worry about it. If you mean the app itself, it's for changing wallpaper, ring tones, widgets and the like.
